What does 'interact with data link' actually mean?

I picked up a mission entitled 'Infiltrate the Data Link datalink' which requires you to go a ship (one of those hauler class ones etc) and then 'find and interact with the Data Link datalink'.
I found the ship - found a data link and scanned it with the data link scanner. Then .... nothing. There was nothing to show the mission was achieved, there seemed to be no other datalink and nothing to infiltrate. It's not a ship you can dock in .... so what exactly are you supposed to do?

(10 hours later, this mission was no longer in my transaction list).

Is there a catch with these missions? I saw some for over 1 million credits and threat level 0. Can anyone confirm if they're working?

I have just managed to complete one after the last update - maybe it has been fixed now. They probably pay more because they are further away, you may find yourself an innocent in a combat situation and then having done a few scans on different bits, you have to take the data somewhere else .... i.e. they take longer than a simple transport / hand-in mission.

Came here with the same issue, figured it might be broken. Managed to complete the mission by targeting the Ship Log Uplink, then flying really close to it (ca 200m or less), and using the Datalink scanner on it.
Would have been easier if the mission details had stated the actual name of the thing I was looking for.

Saved my life. The solution is to get very very close (less than 200m was accurate) from the ship log uplink. This is totally broken and drove me crazy.

The problem is that you can get multiple missions to scan the exact same megaship, but after you've scanned the ship log uplink once it won't let you scan it again. It stops the scan and says something about it already having been scanned. So if you've ever scanned that specific ship's uplink before you now can't take any further missions to scan its uplink, apparently.

I'm in this situation. Has anyone found a way of completing the repeat of the same mission?

I can confirm this is still a thing. You are not able to run multiple missions through this because when you scan the ship uplinks a second time or ANYTIME, it will note that is has already been scanned.. And then you are forced to lose rep to just abandon it LOL.

This is CEOS-SOTHIS area. It could be a bug just from the system scale but still. very sad to see even missions are bugged with such a simple task.

Just run into this bug myself; honestly this expansion has proven a disaster... but anyway, I hoped each megaship would be in the codex so I could somehow delete the registry from there, but needless to say they don't appear there so there's both no record of where you've been before, and no way as far as I can tell to reset the flag and let you complete these missions a second time around.

Same. I pulled 20 missions between Sothis and CEOS. Two different Megaships. I did each ship once and now I can't complete the remaining 18 missions.

I guess these missions are still as ambiguous and stupid as ever then. When will these be fixed to say WHAT data link needs to be scanned, and why does the mission title say "Infiltrate the data link data link", shouldn't it be something like "Infiltrate the Ship Log Uplink data link" (change the name of the item that needs scanning in line with the mission requirement, oh and decide on if you want to calls these "datalink" or "data link" in the mission descriptions).

I'm sat at the correct megaship, scanned the Ship Log Uplink, no completion. Scanned everything I can find on the ship, no completion. I've got no fricken idea what to scan to complete it.

Same issue. If I ever bother to try again I’ll make sure I’m closer, even though the scan on the Log Uplink completed but didn’t complete the mission.
