what else are they making harder for new players? How many hours it is taking now?

I haven't seen that post - do you think you'd be able to find it again?

The only reference I can find quickly is from an OA stream highlighting this number from a trading report - perhaps that was where I read it?

"A successful strategy to seed new players in advance of the launch of Odyssey yielded an additional 8 million base game owners through the launch of Elite Dangerous on the Epic Games Store in November 2020 including a 'Free Week'."

(I guess this might be the same thing you were referencing anyway?)

Time slice from the video above.

The search on the forum is 'curious', but I'll try a few new ideas later!

You don't even know who is being impacted by what and it is in the first post.

The fetch quest hoops are still in the game.
I spent 0 additional dollars on the game since.

Can you share more than one mission now?
Is there a benefit to sharing missions yet, or is it still best to have one person do a huge delivery while the others chill watching Netflix or whatever?

When I last played, one person could share one mission, and when they completed that $50 million credit reward deliver mission, everyone got paid while contributing nothing to the group's goal.
Is it still pretty much that?

I liked the last CG, and the story is nice.
I can only vote with my dollars though.
Until they stop requiring new players to spend over 100 hours to just have a ship comparable to mine, I can't give them any money.

There was one post that I want to respond to.
I was asked what I got out of the game.
I enjoy hauling, trading (note the differences in those two things please), mining, combat, and more.
I like the game, simulating being a space pilot is so much fun that...well I don't want to say more because I think it is important that grimreaper go back and read that first post at least.

So you want new players to have a fully engineered ship from the start?

O7

More accurately, I want ships engineered from the start as opposed to not engineered haha

Nobody plays this game to repeatedly do the engineering hoops.

Players play this game to enjoy being a space pilot, unless a ton of people are secretly jumping through the engineering hoops, deleting their character, and then jumping through the hoops again because they like it so much lol.

Well in that case FDEV may just as well remove the entire engineering process and just have base level ships and be done with it, I mean why bother with engineering, just give everyone identical ships. Basically if everyone has engineered ships from the start then they aren't engineered are they, they are just ship, not engineered ships. Take it all away, that's the ideal solution it appears.

Said it from the start, engineering should have been sidegrades, not upgrades. A way to customize performance, not straight upgrade. Yes, there are some downsides to engineering, but those downsides can largely be engineered around!

I still find OPs original assertion bizarre though and love the non-sequiturs.

Like this:

edit: one guy posted the game is getting easier....for obvious reasons, he didn't have examples
Even Down To Earth Astromy guy said the game is dying...
Half the youtubers left..

The second two sentences are not connected to the first. They just assume that because they think the game is getting harder (it isn't) that this is the reason the "game is dying" and half the youtubers have left.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times… most of the “How to play Elite Dangerous” guides I’ve seen really should be called “How to ruin your ED experience by exploiting this one weird trick.” The way this game is designed, outside of some very niche combat scenarios, almost everything in the game can be done in the starting Sidewinder just as enjoyably as your “100 hour” ship… which I suspect would’ve taken a quarter of the time if you’d ignored said “How to” guides, and just played the game, collecting engineering mats whenever the opportunity presented itself.

before horizons we all had the same earn youre credits buy the best you could afford, every one was equal you became sronger by buying upgraded equipment.players asked for engineering and now people moan a bout it no such thing in this game as a free meal, credits are easy to earn now so new players are in a conda before the know what there doing, try to turn it into a tank but shout about having to farm the mats, sry it takes time its not a shoot em up work at it,you will get there ,plenty else to do in game

O'really?

Check my sig... all my accounts have all bubble engineers (ship and on-foot) unlocked. All my accounts have also unlocked the Colonia ship engineers as well.
Some have unlocked the Colonia on-foot engineers too (not all because i'm still waiting for on-foot blueprint pinning)

And i'm not the only one
People either wipe and start over or they get multiple alts (like i do cause i cannot really wipe an account)

And I thought that I had lots of leisure time!

I also play 4 accounts and have been unlocking engineers with the 2 newer ones.
Although I don't have every engineer unlocked on the 2 main ones. I think I'm 2 short...
You do know that there are 24* hours a day on Sol III? Every day.

Although I have read somewhere that this may change fractionally. Or it could just be a figment of my imagination.

I have unlocked engineers I need, so no shooty engineers, FSD, shields, thrusters, and etc, anything that aids with exploration, the same guardian stuff, just the FSD booster, and of course the double engineered FSD for my Phantom. Don't need any of the others so why unlock them? And no, no wiping accounts or even alts for me.
