What feature are you most hoping for in 2.4......and why?

Just a bit of idle speculation & wish expression. What feature do you most hope for in 2.4....and why?

For me, there were several that were all close contenders. In the end, though, what I want is a fully fledged Favour System.

First up because it is yet another form of Currency-one which can theoretically buy what credits can't-like the ability to haggle over mission parameters (payment, completion times etc) or tip offs relating to upcoming System States or even CG's, as examples.

Secondly, though, I believe favours could work to help bind together various elements of the game-like using your Federal Rank to earn more rapid access to an engineer affiliated to the Federation, or sacrificing your rep with a faction in return for a promotion within the military of the Super Power that Faction is affiliated with.

Going back to basics here, my most desired function since I started playing Elite is very simple, and is wanted by a lot of other commanders here: to be able to change hud colors with an official in-game mechanic. Sure, it's been addressed before by FD saying there's an issue with the coding that somewhat prevents it for now, but wishing is still free.

Other than that, the ability to go to a certain social hub and walk around, interact with commanders, move freely in my ship and invite friends to it or board theirs comes as a close second for roleplaying reasons, but I also dont expect that to come out anytime soon.

So if I have to choose something more immediate and realistic, I would love it if there was a reworked crime and punishment system that would buff significantly profit for pirates, and give reason for bounty hunters to actually bounty hunt commanders over NPCs. Maybe if a specific ship attacks you and kills you, it would trigger a system where you can place a bounty on their head that persists after death by anything other than CMDR destruction. I don't care at all about this idea of having your actions "matter" more and be more permanent, I just want a system that engages pirates, bounty hunters and victims better.
 
Improve MC (engineer+srv). Actual thargoid gameplay. Dynamic bgs (systems grow and wither without rubberbanding). Further work on chained missions. Fix for beige planets. Additional srv types. Some new exploration mechanic.

Most importantly: a random python nerf, just to liven up the forum. ;)

Exploration buff. More scanner variety and associated surface features and POI's to discover.
They've built this enormous game world, give us reasons to explore it besides "pretty screenshots" and "just because"

Though I have a bad feeling 2.4 is going to be all about the "thargoid war!"
Translation: New NPC's called Thargoids. ...well, at least their ships will look interesting. :rolleyes:

Exploration beefed up with some meat on the bare bones...if its more pew pew based, then itll be the last update I wait for ^
 
I had hoped that the multiple cmdr slots that were stated in the DDF, would be implemented. It would allow you to have an exploration cmdr way out in the black, but if you craved a bit of bounty hunting or piracy; to just open up your other cmdr slot and have at it. I guess the only way to do this currently is to purchase more than 1 copy of the game.
 
I am hoping 2.4 wont be just "?" but more "?#?" - know what I mean, like?

uhmm.. no i dont. not the slightest idea what you are on about.

anyway, i hope 2.4 gives npc wing and crew. that would be great. something active to do with scanners would be nice as well. make exploration a bit more like a game.

Better BGS (more dynamic and more interesting things to do in system)

Better Combat zones

Better bounty hunting

Better mining

NPC crew

Branching missions

Adding depth to the useless multicrew. At the moment, there is zero reasons to do multicrew apart from a quick bit of fun. That is not compelling gameplay and it will go down the same route as CQC if it isn't made better.

And most of all better exploration tools.

As for a headline feature, maybe new planet types to land on. When asked on the live stream, "will we see basic atmospheric planets before season 3", it was a no comment. So my bet is basic atmospheric planets for 2.4.

Also maybe a few extra ships to complement multicrew and the SLF.

And then they will move to a DLC model for more planet types until the next big expansion which at a guess will be 2018, and it will likely be space legs.

This is just my opinion and not fact, just what I would like to see.

I don't care what it is as long as it is useable by everyone.
Many of the features we've had recently have only been for sub-populations of players.

More variation in exploration - I like exploration, but it can be boring

Additional exploration tools - to take a little of the grind out of exploring. Might be addressed somewhat by the scanner engineering apparently coming in 2.3

Atmospheric landings or, at least, atmospheric flight - because who doesn't want these

More story lines/mysteries - more reasons to try new things, go to new places. Unknown Trailer suggests some of this may be coming soon (2.3?)

A better way to find coordinates on a planet. Like just entering the numbers and flying to the marker. Instead of the boy scout method we use now. Luckily i remember my Compass and bearings training 😅
 
New materials to scavenger from lava planets with new fancy scanner that shows where the material locations are.
