I would love to be able to walk inside and outside my ship. It would increase immersion greatly, and allow for a much greater role playing experience as right now we're all just a faceless, voiceless, immobile "Commander".

Removing your seat belt, making your way to the exit, go through a pressure chamber, check in at an office, walk around industrial alleys and halls searching for a shop, purchasing goods in person, taking a large trolley or cargo to your ship and actually placing those crates in your cargo because you CHOOSE to do it this way - That's what I want to see in Elite.
 
I'd love to be able to get around on foot and explore. Stations, ships, other players ships, planet surfaces. Chuck in a Vive or Oculus and boldly go etc. It doesn't even have to have a shooter component to it.
 
Yet another weighted poll. Of course this is a Space shooter/sim, not a smeg-head shooter like all the other 'popular' game titles out there. When ED becomes an FPS then it will have to be better than Crysis, and thats just never going to happen. Some base combat might be marginally ok, but really I just want a tank or nuke it from space.

Its way too soon to start talking about season 3, when there are still 4 (er.. 1) more updates this year.

I want to be able to get a higher rank in Federation Space (Fleet Commander) with a couple more HUGE ships. Im in a Corvette and Admiral right now, so if this is a 10 year game I want to have a reason to keep going.

The 'Building Mega-Structures' idea I mentioned before seems a good way to spend millions and billions. I want to be able to buy an outpost/station and the ability to start building my mega ship. If a Capital Ship takes a couple of weeks to fund and build in a community goal, why cant I get the parts together to build my own Capitol Ship, or a smaller version, larger than a Corvette but smaller than a Capitol Ship. You could call 'em Imperial Star Destroyers. Thats a nice name.

As for communications restrictions/additions/nav beacons - I'm sorry, but this is just tosh. The comms work just fine - and I dont want to have to break off a conversation just because I happen to be moving around the galaxy. Plus, it helps to cheer someone up with light chat if they are 35,000lys away, and desperately need some contact!

More NPCs and missions to go with them

NPC wings
NPC crew
Escort and protect missions
New srvs to allow srv surface protect and deploy missions(is set up mining etc)

Basically more life in and around bases

An FPS element added in to Elite would be no different than any of the other features like trading, exploration, landing on planets, powerplay etc. It would be there for people who'd like to join in on it, or it could be ignored if you don't want it.

And as for the comm systems you wouldn't have to get rid of the current comm system. You could have what we currently use (direct messages/wing chat/local chat) but then have several channels that you could join that allow anybody in a certain region of space to all communicate with each other. like a /general chat basically. This would, in my opinion at least, make the game seem more lively and make it easier for players to get in touch.
 
I have no idea what ED's plan is for Season 3, but from the rumors I've heard and based on what's coming I can come up with a pretty decent idea of what we'll see next.

Based on the fact that "Landing on Planets" was a pretty significant change in gameplay from just flying around in a ship, and given the fact that we're getting the character creator this season, It's safe (I hope) to say that On-foot exploration and combat isn't too far off.

Also, the next big step in planetary interaction is adding in atmospheric flight, although it would most likely be on lifeless worlds with atmospheres, with life-sustaining and inhabited worlds being part of the plan in the distant future.

People have also been begging for more social tools, and the ability to create a chat channel restricted to systems with Nav Beacons and filtered to be region-specific wouldn't be TOO difficult I don't think. Time consuming? Yes. But I think it would be worth it to make them game feel more alive and give players the ability to interact with one another more.

Personally I'm hoping for on-foot stuff to be added in with the launch of Season 3. Walking around inside the big plazas of stations or being able to get out and explore a planetary settlement would be very interesting. Also, being able to discover derelict outposts or capital ships and get out and explore them has been something I've always wanted to see in Elite since I picked up Dead Space again for the nostalgia a few months ago. I imagine FPS combat would be added in indirectly via the same way they did CQC. This would allow for match-based games to test out all the different combat systems, weapon types, and other mechanics Elite would have to have to support FPS combat in the main game.

If you have any other ideas or things you'd like to see, please share!

Other: launch of S3 with no game breaking bugs like broken missions, random ship explosions and more dynamic, less grindy, gameplay. But most of all fix the darn software already.
 
i would like more cap ship variety and for the devs to revisit the rules so we can fight along side them and not have them steal all the kills.

I'd like to see caves to explore. Driving and /or flying.
Abandoned bases and stations with loot to find would also be a fun addition.
I would also like to see a comet.
 
I'd really like better map routing and planning tools. At the moment you can specify a destination system and click plot course... Which works fine up to a point... (except in dense star fields near the core).

You can't specify any particular way-points that you wish to include in your route, for refuelling purposes (with a fuel scoop) for example... I'm in a conda with a very limited number of jumps possible because of the small tank... I'd like to set the route parameters so that I know I can fuel scoop on the way. At the moment I can easily get into trouble! I've fitted a 64T fuel tank just to give me some half decent range! I went through a load of non-scoopable stars at one point and had to make a sharp deter because the planned route would have gotten me stranded if I hadn't manually checked it.
There are plenty of other reasons way being able to define parameters for the route calculations and the addition of way-points would be helpful, e.g. Explorers would love this because at the moment there is no way to plan a route other than from A to B... Being able to share routes (for expeditions etc) would also be a real bonus!

I think that first we need the content ( world, atmospheric landings, common enemies etc... ) - there's absolutely no need for FPS right now... what we do need is content to explore. Why put a FPS on ED? So you're quiet and calm on your foot exploring a cave and a group of griefers come and murder you? Just for the fun of it? No thank you. No FPS... at least till season 19.

NMS is not doing 1:1 scale planets though. They're very small. i want to see planets with atmosphere and life (if only just vegetation) in E:D but im not holding my breath. I'll be genuinely surprised if it happens.
 
I voted 'other'. I know a lot of people want "walking around", but walking around doing what? It'd get boring pretty quickly if we were just "walking around". I'd rather see the exploration game beefed up with an orrery in place of the system map, deeper planet scans/planetary mapping, but also the chance (which might come with Season 2) of bumping into something you might not have wanted to out in the black.

I'd also like to see Thargoids, but not, if you see what I mean. Let's have one of those vast locked areas opened up and have at it!

Finally, I'd like to see a bit more meat on the economics. Making money on stocks and shares and so on, that kind of thing.
 
I want to be able to ally with Thargoids
I want to be able to fly to other galaxies
I want to be able to use nukes and other weapons of mass destruction (antimatter bombs, etc)
I want to be able to destroy whole planets with my own death star-sized capitol ship
And finally I want to be able to instantly destroy the universe whenever I get griefed by other Griefertrolls

I believe my demands are logical and doable.

PS: I forgot to mention I want to be able to destroy any enemy ship (NPC or CMDR) instantly with one button press.

PS2:I want all these demands to be available only for me and nobody else.
 
It's not just FPS, it's ambulation. These ships are awesome, and I want to walk (float) around inside them. I want to run (float) down a corridor and perform a critical repair to my ship, while my friends fights the enemy. I want to stand (bounce) on the planets we land on, and walk around the outside of my ship.

And shooting people in the face, never hurt anyone either.

This is exactly what I'm waiting for. More the floating around both inside and outside of my ship. Also, having to repair and maintain my ship on long distance exploration trips. More of a reason to collect and use resources than just making my ship more OP.
 
I went with walking. I also really want atmospheric landings, but to me, they are fairly pointless if only lifeless bodies. And... I wouldn't really like the ones with life without the ability to walk on them already in place.
