A lot of the Sid Meyer games were good. Gunship, RR Tycoon (still not quite beaten by today's games - I think trying to port the game to 3D gives a lot of trouble with the scaling of trains in the sim), Colonization, Civ franchise, Silent Service, red Storm Rising, Pirates - they are all classics.
What game would you most like to see given a modern remake?
Dune was one of the first CD-ROM games I got for my shiny new 486sx-25, I was blown away by the lip-synch’d characters and the desert travel sequences (ornithopter & sandworm) because I’d played the Amiga version first. I wonder what the three (I think?) games will be like for the new movie?
The Syndicate FPS was pretty generic, but the co-op multiplayer levels were a fantastic implementation of the original game. Shame I could hardly ever get a full team.
As for Oblivion, I’ve got my fingers crossed that when/if the Skyblivion mod gets finished I’ll be able to play it in SkyrimVR.
I concur with TIE Fighter (Plus the others as well.....I'm following XWVM with extreme interest but it's progressing slow), Lords of Midnight, Syndicate etc.

Funny. GTA San Andreas was probably the best GTA game. Vice City was also very good. GTA4 was pretty terrible and GTA5 I refunded as it was just "The GTA game" all over again and I couldn't get into it. I loved Liberty City Stories. GTA was 15 years ago and would definitely be a good candidate.
What annoys me is where so many remakes just become almost a completely different game with spurious multiplayer modes and extra content soldered on because that's what games have these days.. Just remake the old game, unchanged, but with modern production values. Like Black Mesa. Maybe add some minor changes to controls or tweak a notoriously unpopular feature or something - but basically remake it frame-for-frame with modern equipment.

I did like GTA4 and 5, but 5 on PC with Kb and mouse and 1st person was a game changer for me...SO much better. San Andreas was a mare with a pad.
That'd be an easy game. Outbreak every 5 mins, they could even borrow the code from ED and just crank up the %.

An old arcade game I played at a roller rink, early 80's, called 'Crazy Climber'. You'd use the 2 joysticks as your hands to move. Would be great in VR climbing and dodging stuff the tenants of the building are dropping on you.
Also, I really enjoy Euro and American truck simulator which is great in VR. They should re-release 18 wheels of steel, or any of their old bargain bin truck sims, with the only things to be updated being the trucks and roads. The maps were way smaller, and you could get/send weather reports, etc. Also, cops would pull you over.

Quarantine was fun. The mission based sequel wasn't as entertaining though. But if I have to wish for a car-based remake, I'll go with Interstate '76.

Midwinter and it's sequel, Midwinter II, the Flames Of Freedom were excellent. They would make great remakes, although that's style of game is very out-of-fashion right now.
Damocles/Mercenary were some of the most under-rated games of all time. I remember turning off Mercenary on my Sinclair spectrum and imagining that world of bridges, town halls, flying saucers and so on exploding as the chips powered down. The following day I got on the school bus and closed my eyes and I could almost imagine floating over the town like you could in the game. It was an amazing experience for 48k!
