What happens when you die in Odyssey?

Let us recap.

You adore Power Play and constantly await updates to the system and you married a teacher. This masochistic reputation you have, it is not unearned, is its~?

Marriage is a lot like Powerplay*, actually.

Rules are complex, arbitrary and intimidating.

Expansion in later cycles is bad leading to turmoil.

The rewards are great to start with, but years in look thin and pointless.

Day to day work is repetitive grind, doing mindless things for years over the same thing.

*Anyone reading this I kid. Marriage is great and so is Powerplay.

To answer the op with a question:

1. What would you like to happen?
2. If it was permadeath would you like it?
3. If it was just respawn in your ship would you like it?
4. Would you prefer to wake in hospital with a big medical bill? If not enough cash then... Restart from beginning?

I suspect whichever method is chosen, someone will sharpen a pitchfork and start their own thread about why it is rubbish.

Maybe they'll simply treat it as "incapacitation". I.e. there's a fail-safe on your suit that will knock you out before you actually die of asphyxiation or over-exposure or whatever.
Then you'd be conveniently transported back to the nearest med bay, etc.

Suppose for bullet wounds and other serious injuries it's a bit of a stretch, but they could still use that same excuse.
Most likely something like this. They could even just say that your "health" is based 100% on your suit. If it's breached, you're "incapacitated" and yup, bit of magic and you're back in your ship (but I think it'd be much better if you were back at a med bay at the last location you docked at, then walk back to your ship).

Ie you don't die. Your suit is just breached/rendered inoperable.

Head shots would be a good way to do this quickly ;)

Every man and his dog is starting a thread about Odyssey so I thought I would too ;)

Right at the moment in the game the player is tied to a vehicle, be it a ship or SRV. When that ship or SRV dies the logic is you somehow escaped and are now placed at a rebuy screen or your ship. With Odyssey the player won't be tied to such a vehicle and could potentially get killed. What happens then? Do you end up in the closest hospital? Do you just respawn? or will the logic be your person is just a telepresence so you appear back in your ship?

These questions and more will probably be answered in later dev dairies but thought I'd ask them anyway so we can speculate :)

Your skull is added to Lord Braben's throne!
