Modes What is Sandro playing at?

How much Powerplay have you done? Any at all?

None. It has never appealed to me - as it seems to paint a PvP tag on the hull of anyone that pledges. I wonder if that's why it has, up to now, not had a great uptake among the player-base as a whole (as Sandro has indicated previously that it has been difficult to prioritise PowerPlay for Development time due to lack of players).

Not everyone prefers (or even enjoys) PvP. Even now there is no requirement to engage in PvP to participate in any in-game content. That may change, of course, if Frontier do go ahead with the proposed change to PowerPlay. However, placing existing content behind a PvP-gate - effectively removing access to it from players who don't enjoy PvP - will set a precedent (an unfortunate one, in my opinion).

For me it's the principle.

It failed because of the modes and not because it is PvP based.
And that principle is exactly why you are all hated so much, and not because you play in solo.

Folks in PGs can continue to have good time as long as they don't mess with the servers from within the safety net.

They have never "messed" with the servers. They have played PP and BGS and CGs if you consider this "messing with the servers" then be prepared to continued to be disappointed.

If it was PVP based then it would have PVP elements... wait... it doesn't have any... so it isn't PVP based. I know Sandro's was hoping it would be, but if he wanted that then why didn't he put that PVP actually affected PP, because it doesn't. You can't even get merits through it right now.

It couldn't affect PP when all the work was done in solo could it?
With the new changes PVP will be the main actor in this game.

In one element of this game - and one that has, up to now, lacked players. Not the whole game, no, unless Sandro's statements on the proposed change only being considered for PowerPlay are inaccurate.

.... and even then only if the proposed change is implemented which is, at this time, uncertain.

Are you really this dense? because PVP couldn't affect PP in Open or in PG's either... but hey continue to blame Solo for everything with no proof that everything was done in solo...

How does one "misuse" the modes?

Same way people "misuse" guns to "grief" other players?

When two of the three modes gives you a free pass to do what you like consequence free- the 5c who wreck powers from the inside out use these modes.

At least in open you have consequences, just like C + P.

Can you please tell me when modes were made consequence free? Fdev has never mentioned this before

Then why are you commenting if you have no intention of playing it, or any technical knowledge of the subject?

You are mixing up Powerplay being Open only with Open being everywhere- something that Sandro has explicitly said they have no intention of doing. Stop imagining monsters that don't exist and keep on topic- Open Powerplay.

Maybe because thats the point of it? Competition?

If you haul in Solo, you have no resistance sent against you. None. In my years in Solo I was interdicted twice by weak ships that shot confetti. In Solo and PG you bypass the danger of other players and can do what you like. Since Powerplay does not trigger C + P you can keep on doing what you like, just as the 5C have done.

I'm commenting because it's a feature that forms part of what I bought - that I *might* have considered taking up. It would seem that there's a desire to create an echo chamber of affirmation by excluding those who do not / have not engaged in PowerPlay. Which would very, very probably result in a minority dictating to a majority how they will access bought and paid for game content.

I'm not mixing anything up. Have you not read the thread? Many proposals to take the BGS from Solo / Private Groups too.

The topic is about placing PowerPlay behind a PvP-gate - nothing less. Unsurprising that there's resistance from players that don't enjoy PvP.

Hope youve dug a decent shell.scrape.

Misconstrued information, strawmanning and 'all modes are equal' (note; not 'equally viable', which is the full quote) rants are coming your way. Shortly you'll be a SDC 'plant' or some such nonsense.

Please show me where Sandro said that- where he directly said the BGS is being 'taken away' from you and made Open only?

PvP-gate? Powerplay takes many forms, just because you are in Open does not mean you are going to be shot the minute you undock. You do have allies and neutrals too- its not some binary thing where its shoot everything or die.

Without PvPing you can Fortify, Prepare and Undermine a rivals system. These are the core features of powerplay. Please explain why this locks a core feature behind a PvPgate.

Having summarised the thread, I'd expect that you are well aware that Sandro has not said that, quite the opposite.

You will also have noted the calls for the same to be done to the BGS as is proposed for PowerPlay.

Yes PvP gate. Which is obvious from the jubilation from those seeking to directly oppose other participants.

Are you suggesting that players will get to choose whether other players can shoot at them when they encounter them in Open?

If not then yes, it's a PvP-gate.

Your obfuscation is as transparent as always. Particularly as you love to (mis)quote devs but have been sidestepping Sandros quotes recently.

Hmm... what version are you playing? I have loads of resistance sent against me, have been interdicted by weak and strong ships, someone posted just the other week his shielded T-9 getting interdicted by an NPC and mass locked. He couldn't get away in time... must be some powerful confetti. Solo and PG's are not safe zones where you can get away with anything scott free no matter how many times you, Goose and, others want to assume.
