Obfuscation? Seeking clarification, old chap.

Please link to any Dev quotes that have been, in your opinion, misquoted.

With respect to Sandro's recent posts - I have posted three from the Flash Topic thread, in whole or in part, in one thread at least. I'm surprised you missed them.

The big difference between the 'all modes are equal' chanting and actual statement that 'all modes are equally viable'.

Again, please link to any Dev quotes that *I* have, in your opinion, misquoted, thanks.

.... as I tend to quote MB's / Zac's posts on that particular point in full.

Every post he makes does not have to conform to lowest common denominator of the 'sky is falling' forum mods/posters who are triggered by the word 'Open' or 'PvP'.

True - however a lot of the speculation, from both "sides", could have been avoided if the limited scope of the proposed change had been made abundantly clear at the outset. People tend to read a lot into what is not said - sometimes more so than what is said.

And that’s why we have you here oh lord of quotes. You are able to show us the full quote so that it can’t be misconstrued, unless you are suggesting we should read into comments and look for deeper meaning?

I agree there is a difference but although it's not a big one it is an important distinction.

If someone were to say 'all modes are equal' that is a specific and quantifiable statement (that can be proven false with a single feature like wings). The statement used is more general and includes the possibility that all modes are considered equal while also diplomatically allowing for local variations like multi-player features being technically impossible in solo.

As a phrase, the one quoted just covers more bases by being less specific.

The phrase 'religious fervour' just wandered through my mind ;)

Perhaps you could supply your own counterargument?

Already been done previously in this thread. I would refer my comment you quoted as addressing comments made earlier about needing exact quotes. Since I have not made direct mention of anyone else and been vague I cannot know of this gets moderated, but hope it points you in the right direction.

If you've said it already then just link to your own post, or refer to it's thread title & post number. Others are not likely to put as much effort into helping you establish whatever your reasoning is, any more than you would help theirs, assuming you are in opposition.

Where? Quote the relevant section, please.

So I have linked the appropriate comments in this thread; because let’s stay on topic, that show why I made the comment about being lord of quotes and not being able to infer or read further into their meaning. I have been in full support of open PowerPlay and have made numerous counter arguments as to why this is a good thing throughout this thread. First and foremost this isn’t a removal of original content from game release. I also specifically pointed out how not all consoles are viewed the same and not all modes are. This is not uncommon for them to wall of content to solo/pg.

If you had read back they and gotten caught you would have seen these conversations instead of demanding an argument when I was clearly being sarcastic with a touch of honesty about the lord of quotes comment.

I'd go a step further... "The curse is Open defaulting to PvP". (instead of each player having a choice)

And yet you DO have a choice. How do you make my arguements for me? You have the ability to click on open or not. You have the ability to pledge to a power OR not. This has always been the case. I have seen countless posts about I was interdicted and killed for no reason. Then come to find out they were pledged and someone from an opposing faction killed them. That is working as intended. These arguments can’t keep getting any more ridiculous.

That's one way of looking at it.

Another, if the situation was reversed and it was PvP that had to squirrel off to PG's in order to get their style of play catered to- would you feel the same way?

I doubt it.

The smug attitude in your tone is inexpensive because the deck is stacked in YOUR favor for Open currently. I'm sure the conversation would be going quite differently if the situation was reversed.

Perhaps you should think of that, because someday- it may actually be. Lots of things seem ridiculous when you can afford to be arrogant.

Lots of people going: "Yeah, now Imma gonna play Powerplay". But Powerplay hasn't changed any core mechanics. It's still and grindy as it was before. And for there to be targets, there need to be players doling the grindy bit. It's not as if Open Only would change any of the tasks that are required.

So in order to make this a success, those players will have to git grinding. Lets see if the players are actually serious in their declarations to start participating. If this gets implemented, after the "novelty" wears off, give it a year or so, then we'll see

If pilots carry out supply missions the way the do in private / solo mode, in particular setting up ships to max cargo and minimise everything else if / when PP goes open only, then yes, it will rapidly become a tedious experience for both cargo runners and interceptors. I can see PP cargo being moved in a very different way to what currently happens in solo / private, it'll also make it much harder and more dangerous for anyone trying to engage a well armed, A graded, shield and hull buffed hauling Annie, for instance. You are right though, depends on what the player base decides to do.

Well for one I can be as arrogant as I see fit. And in this situation you continue to grasp for straws. It’s amazing to me that in all of this, everything someone defends the need for pp in open or makes a comment in support of open play you ARROGANT solo/pgers immediately label us as PvPers. Do you think you can handle a little honest feedback? I can count on one hand the number of PvP interactions I have had. All have been a ton of fun, but they add up to one hand. So spare me the sob story. When I began posting on these forums I was all bright and joyful, the forums create the smugness. One of the first posts I made when I joined in the PS4 section asked a simple question about the different modes and why people were so adverse to open. Who do you think stopped by? The usual forum trolls to attack someone for playing in open.

In reality the deck is not stacked in my favor in open. I have lost most of the actual PvP battles I have had. So before you lob what you consider to be an airtight arguement it would help to catch up on the posts in this thread where I stayed I partake in PowerPlay and have very little experience in PVP.

I’m sorry you can’t afford arrogance, it’s rather cheap behind a keyboard tho.

I'm sorry, were you still trying to prove a point to "dispute" my reply? Because I think you just demonstrated exactly what I stated.

You will need to explain that as, on the face of it, that statement is incorrect.

When you answer, tell us what power you are pledged to and how many merits you have earned in the last month.

Actually it isn't incorrect because PP is still tied to the BGS. Say you have an independant system that you and a few others support and someone decides it needs to be under a certain power's influence. Suddenly things start changing in the system and a lot more traffic comes in, all which affect the BGS, lockdown, boom, influence of factions, etc. Currently anyone in any 3 modes can do something about that. But if things go through they are forced to go to Open to counter and it becomes Winter's property now. Unless PP is utterly removed and has no effect on the BGS or the universe as a whole it needs to remain for all 3 modes.

As for my power, I am pledged to the Rightful Empress, our lovely blue haired princess and I honestly don't keep track of merits. I don't do it for the prismatic shield, I help where I can.

Unless I'm mistaken, the control system is the only place where BGS activity will go on under the proposed system- and that systems BGS is not locked to Open but across all modes.
