Discussion What is the most efficient way to crowdsource the 3D system coordinates

Doing a naive "start at the origin, iterate over the stars moving half way towards each time" thing, with various orders of the data (ORDER BY in the SQL on various fields), yields an answer around 90 to 95 : -70 to -65 : 10 to 15. That's someplace around "Crucis Sector PC-V a2-0".

That seem plausible to me. If you look at a visualisation of the gamma systems from FD it looks like a large sphere centred on Sol and then a smaller, intersecting sphere a little way off to one side. That second region would pull the average coordinates in that direction slightly.

And if we weight on human biomass? (we have to assume a human in the central systems have same mass as those living on the fringes) Where is the weighted center of human population in ED galaxy?

Feel free to hand-enter/OCR the population of all the 'FD' systems in order to work this out.

So, is EDSC just dead now, or is it only me? For hours now I just get "Connection reset by peer".

It might finally be time to rework my code to use one of the nascent alternatives.

Is anyone else suddenly having trouble using the GM to search for systems with more than 2 spaces in the name?? Is the GM search now broken in 1.3.08? OR is it just me... I will restart and try again.

EG: I can search for "CORE SYS SECTOR" and cycle through all the results using the right-arrow search button - but if I type "CORE SYS SECTOR DL" or "CORE SYS SECTOR IR" or basically anything after the R in SECTOR (even a space) then I get nothing to cycle through. I haven't done much GM work in a while so it's possible this was in 1.3.07 too - but just thought it worth mentioning here to confirm if it's just my machine or across the board...

EDIT: Restarted ED... same problem. Restarted machine & ED... same problem.

EDIT 2: Ah - so I just checked this thread (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=120113) and this is a KNOWN BUG in 1.3.08 . Doh!

• Some players are unable to successfully search for Systems with multiple line spaces in name

It feels like the search function work better now compared to first day after 1.3.08 release. MAybee they tweaked the servers some. But still many bugs..

Blatent abuse of my own thread.

EDCodex has been released. Its basically the on steroids community driven website version created by biobob of my third party tools thread. I´ve gone through all my threads except for this one. Well I started with this one a few months ago but I didn´t manage to go through it completely. Hence the list of coordinates related tools is far from complete. The whole point of EDCodex is that it is (in the end) community driven. Anyone who has registered can add entries. I´m afraid I will not have the time to go through this whole thread. If anyone would like to add their own tool/thread or someone else you are very much encouraged to do ;-) I will try to update the OP asap so the current list in the spoiler tags will reference EDCodex.

That site is a nioce collection.

Thanks for your work.

Cmdr Koreldan found a system that seems to have moved to new coordinates. Yebatayu is now around -135.187500 -40.500000 7.406250 instead ofg the old data: 94.6875/-71.15625/-1.625

Have submitted one distance to check that morning, but it was hidden.
Clearly coords have been changed.

EDIT: Coords have been corrected on EDSM and recalculated

Problem solved also in Eddb json files ! Thank you !

EDCodex has been added to the fan site section of the Official ED Community website.

EDCodex is a website with a database of currently approx 215+ tools, threads, websites, videos for ED. Any one can and is encouraged to add entries there. EDCodex is and should be community-driven. EDCodex companion thread. Its equally suited for PC's, tablets and smartphones and has RSS feeds.

LAUMA System

A few months ago (like March) it was reported that there were two systems called LAUMA. I think this has now been addressed by FD. Unfortunately, the LAUMA we had is the one that's been renamed and the current LAUMA is not in EDDB / EDSC / EDSM .

OLD:
LAUMA -121.25, -99.4025, 9.1875

NEW:
DEIVE -121.25, -99.4025, 9.1875
LAUMA 16.8125, -43.8125, 38.59375

I see DEIVE is in EDDB with duplicate old coords for LAUMA. I haven't checked EDSC or EDSM.

I have updated my System.csv for TD users.

Cheers,
Maddavo
