micro transactions for credits sounds like a good idea in theory but in practice all it does is put a cash value on credits that can then be undercut by gold farmers and FD ends up having to forever discount them to stop it. its not really a good way of supporting the company or the game as it could end up costing more to police than they make from it.
I find it ironic that people consitter that a pay to win game. but at the same time, it does have mechanics to punish people who dont play long enough, but, in most cases its very easy to win if you know what your doing in any charator. ether way, its usualy just pay to not feel ocd about not owning every skin or charator at the given moment. It has a very poor user rating. Which means they are probably loosing out on a lot of potential customers and not gaining many new ones. Most of the complaints are about it being a pay to win cash grab...
So next time the same studio need to release a new game to keep the money rolling in, people will remember and avoid it. That is when the financial problems start. I have worked in the games industry, things can go wrong very quickly because of stuff coming back to bite![]()

Gold farming will happen anyway if the game has enough market share.
Given that those expansions will not be free (and I wouldn't expect them to be without a subscription), their price should pay for them. That is the beauty of expansions for pay, they can practically be developed as their own game. The other part of me want some way to be able to give the developers money and support this game so that we could a walking in ships/stations/on planets expansion in the future
As someone who is afraid to actually get out there and play with others, it's not difficult to see why you don't understand why this is a bad thing. I have money I could burn and I still know it's a bad idea to sell out your own game.
Except that is invariably NOT what happens when games become microtrans heavy. Generally, any regular content updates that were made to keep subscribers taper off to be so infrequent as to be non-existent, replaced with an increasing catalog in the cash shop with events that cannot be fully participated in without a real world cash expenditure and quests that are almost impossible without optional "convenience" items.Sure. If it happens within bounds of reason I don't have a problem with it. Frankly, if it keeps me coming back to the game on a regular basis even 6 months from now due to continuously new content additions, I'm actually willing to spend ~$15 per months. Hence, I personally don't see any downside.
E's current system makes gold farming impossible, unless gold farmers intend on spending 3 hours transferring cargo 1 ton at a time.
As the majority of the people will argue that it doesn't matter what another person has in this game in respect to you, would it be fair to say that buying credits for real cash doesn't affect anyone at all?
There is no "win" in this game, hence it wouldn't be pay to win.
Coming from someone who has 0 interest in PvP and will likely never play Open Play for anything other than messing around once in a while; Part of me absolutely despises the idea of paying real money for credits. The other part of me want some way to be able to give the developers money and support this game so that we could a walking in ships/stations/on planets expansion in the future, other than skins for ships that I don't use or t-shirts that I don't want.
Though there is also so much to even buy with credits at the moment. Buying everything you wanted could kill a lot of the driving force for playing for a lot of people.
With the way the game is now, I'd absolutely uninstall and walk away if they started selling creds for cash.
How is it even a game if you can just skip the effort that others put in and go straight to the best stuff in it? There's no barrier but credits to getting into anything - no skillpoints like in EVE, no rep like in GTA Online, you just get into whatever you want once you can afford it.
That is actually my plan, or probably more like a skin pack every 2-3 months. I mean, I want to support the game, but it is not like we're running directly on their servers...and I am a cheap b@$+@rd.Same goes for all the other 'subscription' folk - buy a skin a month, it costs the same but you get something for your money, and if timed right could be exclusive (like the wireframe cobra or silver viper, etc)
