What I've learned about griefers/gankers across the board.

As I said earlier, the life and death of internet randos does not concern me. It’s the mindset that “hurting people is okay” that gankers share with IRL bad folks. The base psychology of the issue is the same. As I made clear in my earlier posts, it’s basically a form of cyber-bullying. No different than people on Facebook goading people into suicide. It’s a sort of behavior that most players here have deemed unpalatable.

Just because it isn’t against the rules doesn’t make it right.

Getting your ship blown up in Elite is not even worth the words ‘hurting you.’ If you believe that, you have much to learn about life.

Nah, mainland US. Won’t say where (don’t want Jason to swat me for disagreeing with him).

That’s uncalled for.

I wonder if you’d feel the same way if someone started cussing you out over the comms after you killed them? To me, words have no impact, but I’ve seen so many PvPers get very upset about it. Funny how they can connect that with bullying, but not their own actions...

If anything, it's the irrational people who don't know the difference between real life violence and video games that do stuff like that.

"You blow up my pixelship! It's just like murder!"

A geologist diagnosing a psychological issue? Wha? He must have rocks in his head.

Any topic or post that wants to equate gaming behavior to RL behavior fails on it's face value. Any topic or post that wants to generalize about anything, especially someting so nebulous as the term Griefer, is bound to be baseless/useless. And that goes for both sides of this thread. A thread that is so spurious it even lacks the potential for mockery. It lacks even the chance for comic relief.

Wacky extremists all around.

Cussing a "person" out is different than blowing up a "CMDR".
It's much worse.

So are all the vile personal assertions you seem fine with.

Wow Bryan, nice forum jujitsu; we've got Indigo implying that PvPers deserve real life shooting and you cheering that action on, followed by me calling both of you crazy for suggesting such real world nastiness over a video game...and you turn that around to ME being the one inciting real world violence??? Man, this is exactly what I was talking about when I suggested some of you guys get some professional mental health care.

If I misread your level of hostility towards me, then I apologize. I was under the impression that you hated us both quite a lot at this point.

I believe you need to stop associating PvP with bullying and you might have an easier time with it.

Legitimately even if someone is mouthing off in comms after sending you to the rebut screen that still isn't bullying.

I’ve had that and more thrown at me over the years. People flip out in some extraordinary ways!

I say that's more like forum Yellow Bamboo, ie fantasy based mega-fail.

A Secret Agent diagnosing a psychological issue? I got nothing.

But, you should rise above such nonsense. Aren't you the one who jumps up when someone insults a PvP guy?

That’s just the vibe I get from the PvP crowd here. If we disagree with you we get our names on a special list.

When you imply some of the nicest, most helpful people on the forum want to SWAT you it tends to be remembered and held against you. Rightfully so. Own what you say.
