What kind of game is mining...

Well, its a boring and frustrating and total lack of fun game.

Prestine belt - check
Metallic / Metal rich - check
Hazard RES - check
Within 20KM - check

200 prospect limpets used
3 asteroids found with Painite

So around 1.5% of the rarest and most valuable mineral in the game. Sounds about right to me.

I wouldn't bother with metal rich, just stick to metallic. I mine for platinum and palladium, painite is a nice bonus. It's supposed to be rare, hence why it's in high demand.

Although I'd like mining to involve more depth and skill, I actually find it quite relaxing and immersive. Some of those asteroid rings are quite pretty :)

Sounds about right to me. Took me hours to mine that stuff for Selene Jean. Never have to do it again now Bromellite is a mission reward. Woo hoo.

^^This.

Its a process learning the best way to mine.
Was for me anyway, started out hating it and only doing it for engineer.

By the time i had the 500t mined and refined for selene i had plenty of painite for the unlock and had made a tidy profit. Givin what id learnt i wasnt to disheartend to see another engineer need bromilite. Got that super quick putting my newly learned skills to use. Bromilite can be got from missions now though.

I go back to mining the odd time now, never would have found out i enjoy it somewhat if i didnt need it for the engineer.

Jura system/Jura 7 I get about 30-40 Painite per a mining session. Plus the other P's, Gold, and Silver. I make around 30 mil per run. Havent been there in a while since they made my T-9 a trader workhorse.

I was mining in Jura a week or two ago and came up with similar haul in my Cutter.

Mining in Elite is mostly a form of relaxation. This is partly because of a nerf to mining missions in 2.3, and a failure to build out sophisticated mining mechanics throughout. Enjoy it for the beauty! Great Elite Mining community on reddit too.

It's the kind of thing you can do to just chill and disengage brain for a bit, kind of like washing the car. But in space. With no car. Or any shampoo.

I could just say you're doing it wrong and call it a day...

You know what? Screw it!

You're Doing it Wrong!

I love to do mining at Delkar from time to time with my Conda.
Three mining lasers, a healthy amount of limpets and outside of a rez so I won't be bothered by culprits.
Asteroids are mined in no time.
I go for Palladium, Platinum, Gold and Painite only at metallic rings.
I don't have to care that much about credits so I do it for fun.
It is rather relaxing.

In real life, mining is one of the most dangerous professions.

I can't think of many ways, outside of combat with pirates and system authority, to make mining dangerous.

A better approach is to let users setup a mining operation. If you discover a really mineral rich area you can claim it and make a lot of money. Maybe you could create delivery missions that other players take to transport your ore.

The entire game's economy should be based on mining.

It's an RNG PvR game which leads to a PvE game or a PvP game or both then a trading game with a BGS.
Does that help?

Yay prefer to aim for this type of rock, can make about 18 mill in a run .. so yes!! Fill your holds mhahahahah..:D
