What "new" activities since Odyssey do you recommend for a returning veteran player?

o7 everyone,

I've taken a break from the game for a long time now, basically stopped playing some time before Odyssey released. Before that I put over 700 hours into the game on Steam and even more then that on the Oculus Store, so I'm well over 1000 hours if not even 1500. I have pretty much all the ships you could dream of back then fully engineered and with 750mil left in my account. All that isn't to brag but just to say that I loved this game enough to invest a ton of time into it, and I want to give it another serious chance again.

With that said, coming back now I don't even know where to start or what to do. I forgot most of my knowledge from back in the day and I'm considering starting over from scratch on my alt account. So far I just purchased Odyssey and had some fun flying around in VR exploring some of the new planets, but outside of that I'm feeling kind of lost.

Tips/tricks would be appreciated! What are your favorite activities, especially ones that are new since Odyssey? I used to do a lot of exploration, so I'm especially curious about what I've missed in that gameplay loop. I used to do long expeditions to the most exotic spots in the galaxy, and found it very therapeutic. Is that still a thing people do, now that the planet generation has changed most of those places? Or is there something else even more fun for explorers to do now?

Buy an Artemis suit from the Pioneer store see what partly upgraded stuff they have for sale, it varies from store to store and changes every Thursday after the weekly tick.
Then go out exploring again with a small ship or one with an SRV and see and sample the new exobiology for fun and profit.

Wrecked Titans and inactive Spires are great for looking at and pretty safe the active ones are possibly more visually interesting but not safe even in the right specialised kit.

There are the new Super Cruise Overcharge FSDs which are
  1. A really fun ride
  2. Fantastic fuel hogs
  3. Heat generators
  4. A really really fun ride
  5. Should come with a direct link to the Fuel Rats

Odyssey wise there's a new SRV, suits and weapons and a new FSD.
Exobiology is the main exploration activity, there's also the Thargoids spires (probably best to find an inactive site if you want a look round).
There's a lot of new settlements if you're interested in trading or messing with BGS or mat gathering.

Thanks for all the tips! Looks like I have my work cut out for me exploring what's already been mentioned. I'll start checking off the list one by one!

The Drake-class Fleet Carrier has ship interiors. There's a new ship the Python MK II which is better for Super Cruise Overcharge (SCO). The Type-8 should be released soon and 2 more unannounced ships this year.

Odyssey added on-foot exobiology and mercenary stuff, landing on planets with tenuous atmospheres, Thargoid Hunters, Titans, Thargoid drones (Banshee and Revenant), lots of new surface sites / settlements. There is a second SRV called the Scorpion.

now that the planet generation has changed most of those places? Or is there something else even more fun for explorers to do now?

Yes the planet tech was updated for Odyssey which changed the old locations.

Powerplay 2 and a new secret feature will be released later this year.
