What other games are we all playing?

Does sound a shame about the pc version, I haven't got it yet, probably won't for a while. I still play the xbox version, only game I have for xbox, likely the only one I will ever have. But it is a great game to roam around in.

And the highlight of the past few weeks: Max Payne 3.
The last time I played it was on PS3, so I was afraid that it will feel very dated. How wrong I was.

Finally, I just love the story and the protagonist, the cutscenes are like a mix of Die Hard and a Tarantino movie. Very underrated game!

Shootout at the airport, music starts playing. Enough said. ;)

Just Cause 4:

I think it comes free with Microsoft gamepass...I'll have a look since I still jump into JC3 for some brainless mayhem now and then.

Speaking of free with Gamepass, there's also Rage 2 available, id Software IP, but made from the same studio of Just Cause. And it shows! Out of whack, but great fps fun.
Also incredibly beautiful dawns and sunsets, but you'll be too busy sending goons flying anyway.

2 week holiday is over, booo.
Played quite a bit (for me).
Played Prey, but got bored, so switched to civ 6, am almost finished one game on prince, continents, large, all else standard, and random leaders incl me.
Was staying up 'till 3am, "just one more turn" is something I hadn't felt for years.
Haven't touched it for 2 days, stupid work and exercise getting in the way.

Stupid work is getting in between me and my beloved Euro Truck Simulator, too. We hateses stupid work!

Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I love this game for its multiplayer. It's a masterpiece. Matches last quite quickly and dynamically that does not let you get bored. But unfortunately I play pretty bad. So I analyze my statistics here to understand that I'm starting to play better.

I've watched some Euro Truck Simulator videos about trucks crashing into each other and stuff, and it looks really fun. Is there any story in the game, like stuff you can go really crazy misinterpreting with? I assume there is no PvP?

PvP? it is a game about hauling freight across Europe ;)

There are some parallels which are not a million miles from ED..... They have cooperative community events, such as the one on now - ending on the 15th - which is delivering presents to all cities across europe (and America if you have their other game American Truck simulator)

In the community event The jobs there come from a live pool and when you take one it removes it so other players no longer see it and depending on what levels are hit depends on what rewards you get (cosmetics for your vehicle).

You start off with (well no truck at all initially, you haul for other people) but you eventually get enough cash for your 1st rig, and you can either upgrade it or buy better models.

oh and another elite parallel..... the game is 10x better in VR!.

In the official branch there is no direct multiplayer at all but the game fully embraces modding, and there is a multiplayer mod so you can truck with other people. I have not tried it but i hear generally people like to take it quite seriously so going on there to crash into other truckers I do not think will go down to well, however this is me guessing, i am likely wrong.

there are also heaps of truck as well as some amazing fan made map packs which fully update the visuals and map complexity. At full price for the full game it gets pricey but in sales the base game and older DLC is cheap as chips. I love it, but it is a game about trucking, not about crashing.

(tho it is quite hair raising doing 90mph along windy roads and i wont lie, i have rolled my rig a few times.

oh and last but not least it has a simple but enjoyable haulage company option where you buy garages and hire / train staff to deliver stuff using your vehicles.

Have some heavily discounted games left to play, as evidenced by my extensive, heavily discounted, holiday game list in my Steam library. Forgot about SoT until now.

It seems The Sea of Thieves has turned some 10 Million lost souls into motley pirates:

....and by simple cause and effect, Epic Game Store too :ROFLMAO:

  • RDR2: finished the main campaign, and although I wanted to free roam a lot, I am finally fed up with the crashes to desktop. Not interested in online either... will revisit once R* patches it up properly. A shame, because it is a landmark game in true R* fashion.
That's why I'm still playing the Ultimate edition version on XBX1. As a predominant PC gamer and vet player of R* games (since GTA III era), I'm only too familiar with how horrific R* PC ports for its console centric games have historically been. Played GTA San Andreas on PC when R* game coding for its fully 3D, action sandbox open world was still in its infancy. So R* left a TON of unused coding on the San Andreas cutting room floor. Which allowed the PC modding community to create not only critical fixes for game breaking bugs, but some incredibly amazing mod content as well (the most infamous being the Hot Coffee mod).

Given R* history of treating the PC platform ports as a pure afterthought, I knew I was going to have crying game issues with the port for RDR2 when it was announced for PC. Proved my paranoia true while torturing myself with an epic migraine watching a favorite YT streamer like Oxhorn. Who was struggling trying to learn how use the item/weapon wheel in his RDR streams (a complete non issue playing with a Windows PC controller, the PC version of XBX1 controller). All on the fly while he was trying to ride on horseback in a firefight o_O And nvm trying to accomplish simple, fundamental things like hunting, fishing, horseback riding, harvesting herbs, setting up camp, crafting on horseback/on foot, or just navigating/scrolling around and zoom in/out on the game map on the fly.

Anyhow ever since I've played on XBX1 with its game controller, I've had zero CTD or performance issues since game launch. Same for the online component. Which--thanks to the sheer size of the map and an efficient defensive mode toggle feature---is finally playing like a private PvE server now that the bounty hunter, moonshiner, trader and collector careers are available.

The PC version is still in my Steam wish list for the obvious modding content potential. But not until the modding community (via Nexusmods) or R* gets around to patching the PC platform game breaking bugs. Whichever comes first.

I had no issues controlling RDR2 as my trusty PS3 controller is still working after some 13 years, even the battery remained decent. Tried many other non-console ones including Steam controller, but the original fits me the best. Overpriced things, but well built for sure!

Anyhow, I got GTAV way after launch and clocked many hours into it without missing a beat, so I expected RDR2 to be OK especially as I sat out the Steam release.
Sure, my mobo was listed as one having issues, but I had to try it... By the way, apart of crashes to desktop, the game refuses to recognize the controller via Steam Link too. The only game I had Steam Link issues with so far.

It's a shame really, R* games are really must haves, but I can't justify buying a console for them only...
