What other games are we all playing?

the creature

Evolving Tyrannids are a minor plot point of the game. Why they grew tentacles on their faces is is a mystery though. Must have eaten some Lovecraft.

Vermintide had pretty decent melee system. But you get to end gear and then it's hc grind after.

The melee system in this is pretty basic, mostly just blocking, moving, and swinging a power fist or weapon. But the unlocks aren't too tiresome; by the time you've learned the game, you have a couple of classes functionally maxed out and can not worry about it.

Some single-player:

It's much better as a co-op game though.

I've been playing Hell Let Loose at least a couple of times per week. I'm really bad at it but its still an awesome experience. I've also just started playing Mass Effect legendary addition, £27 on Steam now. I have just downloaded Destiny 2 because some of the Cmdrs in my squadron play it but I've not started on that one yet. I'm thinking about buying Ready or Not, which is still in beta but seems to be very highly rated.

Had a foray into Rising World, the improved unity version, and a dart at Sublimination on a recommendation.

Both are interesting and more likely to get my time than ED (at the moment).

Ready or Not is pretty good. I played SWAT 4 many moons ago and this one replicates the coop experience of that. Multiplayer coop, it's one of the best out there at the moment. Having played RoN a fair bit over the last few weeks with mates, I can heartily recommend it even though it's still in early access :)

I've been playing Easy Red 2, It's not bad for just over a fiver. It's kind of like Running with Rifles in first person. Graphics are a bit last century but for the price I'm not complaining

Ultimate Admiral Dreadnaughts, Stormworks and Bannerlord. And Bannerlord is the most stable one. Stornworks is a bit of a mess and UAD is just released to public early access. They just released an update for Stormworks but I think it was the showcase version - not the release candidate - there is disasters every couple minutes (the flagship feature) which isn't so bad with tornado and maelstrom, but Tsunami rolling over map every couple mins is super annoying.

As Subnautica Below Zero came to GamePass, and the VR mod works for it, I'm very much enjoying that at the moment.

Oh, and happily diving back into NMS to catch up with all the stuff that's been added there since I last played.

And Half Life: Alyx.

It's good to play other games! :D

O WTH DID I BUY DYING LIGHT???

I'm terrified of anything dead IRL aka New Orleans typed of creepy graveyards, the morgue, funerals, funeral homes, churches with coffins in 'em, the dark for 1 whole week (after I made the mistake of watching The Ring alone at 2am one morning). And yes Zombies.

TWD really freaked me out. Quit watching by mid season of 1st ep. Made fatal mistake trying to pickup watching that in season 3 when everything in the universe was decomposing and stinking to high heaven. Quit watching all Z based shows after that.

Fast forward a decade later where I ran into a childhood friend. After swapping good ole dayz stories back when we were kids over a few beers. Chatting over a couple of beers. From psychological chicken dares & scares we did as kids, to playing video games. After which, I ended up faithfully picking up a copy of DL2. On pure blind recommendation of said (once trusted) childhood friend. Who told me the DL Zombie experience was the fun we had back in the days before #CancelCulture. Trolling the goof billy train wreck that was Dashcon 2014 all over tw@t & f@kebook....

Keyword = disaster here. Yeah bro. I see what u did there.... :cautious:

Because quite clearly, his point was that as grown ups, we need to face our fears right? We need to learn how to conquer our fears. If childhood phobias were the enemy, then the enemy of the enemy was supposed to be my friend. Right? Because seriously, the quack Freudian wannabe shrink who made up that particular B$ mumbo jumbo had to have been as high as the stratosphere.

How can a dev be so Machiavellian in their psychological torture towards us poor gamers? Yeah. Starting to really feel the love for my friend. Not because I'm good at being the sucker who's compelled to terrorize themselves on the psychological &M end. But because I ACTUALLY PAID $$$ OUT OF POCKET for this. PLUS TAX. Then got sucked in and preceded to miss Steam's cutoff time limit for a refund. So now I'm compelled by a very illogical subconscious to finish this digitally rotting version of TWD dammit. o_O 😵

DL2 rating 10/10. for delivering one of the best childhood phobia games that totally traumatize your inner child .

Did my inappropriate gene do something to him off recently? 😃 IDK. Karma can be a real b***h. Especially now when I remember said "friend's" inner child never quite got over their exotic coulrophobia fixation. Which has been literally decades after encountering Pennywise in IT come to think of it....

Wonder if Steam has any good psycho clown themed titles on sale lately? :devilish:

Apart from logging in for the odd dbl engineered module or story event ED is slowly fizzling out for this console Cmdr.

Picked up Days Gone on PS+ just before Xmas and am having an absolute blast with it.

Just beat main game and am mopping up before starting a new game plus playthrough to grab any remaining trophies.

I dipped back into one of the three KickStarted video games I'm still waiting for, Universim. The developers have wisely kept good communications going the whole time (about six years I think) so the still waiting masses are not in a constant state of turmoil.

It's changed since I last dabbled a couple of years ago, but in good ways and plays better now on my ancient iMac than it did then (real optimisation). Essentially a simplified 'Civilization' game on very small planets, what tempted me back was the possibility of flying (but no actual space flight I belive) to the mother planet's moon when the space age is achieved.
