What PC spec is needed to run Odyssey at 1440p/4k at a steady 60fps?

As per the title just wondering what level of hardware can run Odyssey at a steady 60fps at the higher (1440p/4k) resolutions and high/ultra detail settings?

I'm really struggling with performance on my system (Ryzen 3100, Geforce 980 , 32gb DDR4). I can accept that due to the age of my GPU it can't run Odyssey at 1440p/High but wondered how those with more powerful systems were getting on?

I think what really frustrates me is that the game ran at a steady 60fps at 1440p/high in Horizons. Whereas now I'm getting 40-50fps in space and around 20fps on foot. There's odd lag and a lack of responsiveness in menus as well though no sign of excessive load in the CPU? It's generally just a really bad experience playing ED now to the point it's put me off playing the game.

What kind of GPU/CPU does it take to run Odyssey at 60fps on foot and in space at a steady 60fps+ on 1440p/4K at high/ultra?

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
nVidia RTX 2060
HyperX Predator 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3200 CL16
SSD Seagate BarraCuda, 2,5" - 2TB

The rest is unimportant...

I play in 1440p and can get as low as 23 FPS in settlements on fire.
In space I get a steady 100 (I limited my FPS to match my 100 Hz screen), in stations around 80-90.
In concourse between 60-80.
On planets around 50-60 but definitely not steady.

Horizons ran 100 FPS everywhere (space, planets) and with a supersampling of x1,25.

Good to know 60 FPS+ is achievable in space at least with a mid-Range RTX 2000/3000 card.

There's definitely serious issues with that flame effect. In the tutorial when the settlement caught fire indoors my frame rate dropped to 6-7fps when looking at the fire!

People with 3090 dont get more than 40fps on foot
This is true for combat sites on planets, the game isn't even using my hardware to it's fullest, my 2080ti is mostly around 50% load.
So it's doesn't matter how powerful your hardware is if the game doesn't utilize it.

In space it's all nice and dandy, no issues there.
Stations and concourse is fine as well as long as 60 is your minimum fps tolerance.
On planets it can go lower, in settlements it WILL go lower.

A tiny bit of optimization should do the trick. The question is when will that happen.

4670k, 16gb ddr3, 1080ti and play 3440x1440 ultra preset no bloom or blur i hate that. +60 space. Busy station 40 fps.
Station, settlements is 20 fps, fire is slideshow.
Lower settings do not improve anything, just looks worse.

Someone at Frontier should stop smoking weed and drinking beer and that will fix dark lighting, low fps, star blending, settlement fire that can really burn your computer and another issues.

Try calling NASA to see if they have any ideas, while you're at it ask if they have any quantum supercooled machines that might get me more than 10fps in VR in stations.

i7-9700k
16GB RAM
RTX 3080 AMP HOLO
3440 x 1440 UW
Quest 2 via link cable

I was getting a solid 90FPS (everywhere) in VR High, oculus set to 1.2x. Logging into Odyssey it dropped to 45fps in station unless I moved then it would spasm and stuuter, 90fps out in space.

Conflict Zones are the worst for me, averaging at 33-40fps.
Settlements appear to do fine on my end. 60fps with occasional minor drops.
I haven't been close to any fires yet, will try looking for that later, to see how it drops.

My specs are
i9-10850k
32 GB RAM
RTX 2070 Super (461.72 drivers dated 02/25/2021)
3840x1080 Ultrawide monitor [can do 144Hz, but locked at 60Hz for recording]

I also play at 3440x1440 which was why I asked about 1440p/4k! Ultrawide FTW!

I noticed the same thing that dropping the detail level appears to have very little impact on the game performance strangely?

It has nothing to do with PC specs. What you need is:

“Fillet of a fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.”

... to be frank, in current state of the code, I'm not even sure Cray Supercomputers can deliver a computer that can run this thing over 1080p.

Remember the old joke "Yes, but can it run Crysis"? I think we have a new candidate for that joke...

This is 1440p60, ultra preset, on a 2.5GHz 6800 XT (about as fast in this game as a stock 6900 XT or RTX 3090, give or take a few percent):

Some areas outside the tutorial mission can get a bit slower, but they are fairly uncommon.

If you want that ~60 fps minimum at 4k, in the current build, you'll need a time machine or some liquid nitrogen.

I don't have a Cray yet... But the timed link below is at 1440...

That is only a 2080 super & A9 5900X

I am getting about 50-60 fps with a 60fps limit in 2560*1440 windowed and Ultra settings. I got a 4K screen but havent tried it in 4K yet.

i7 6700K and a RTX 3080 with a 90% power limit.
