What sort of design would you like for Alliance ships?

"In 3252, a hidden asteroid base is found in Alioth (again, we can look!), and a vaccine to the Mycoid virus is stolen. Obviously, this is big news across the Galaxy. The vaccine is delivered to the Thargoids by a private party. This leads to a peace treaty declared by the Alliance with the Thargoids. Get this... The aliens give a warship to the Alliance, and in 3253 the first Thargoid ship is piloted by a human. Wait, the Alliance hasn't gotten any ships yet, right? Hmmm... By 3255, complete relations between the Thargoids and humans proliferate through space, and both species begin to share technological and cultural ideas." - https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/3567o3/wait_a_minute_humans_and_thargoids_are_amicable/

So, yes - it's entirely possible Alliance could have hybrid ships*; the only problem there, is that they'd have been blown to bits by the Empire, Federation AND Independent Systems who would've wanted to get their mitts on the tech. Then again, FD could just introduce hybrid ships and be like "nah, they were always there; we just weren't ready to introduce 'em." But we'll have to wait and see how they expand the lore here.

Great looking ship. R+ for posting it and the lore

a mix between the empire and feds, basicalyl thhe more edgy style of the feds instead the round Empire one, but still some shorter versions of the pods the Empire has. A bit a more sharp edged kind of the keelback by styles.

Whenever I think of Alliance ships I think of the White Star from Babylon 5.

design wise, the clipper and cutter come rather close to it.

I think the ALliance ships should be pointy.

I know it doesn't really make sense, but I like pointy ships. (such as the FDL or dbs)

Really loving this thread. I especially like some of the more industrial design ideas and the idea of asymmetry. Having said that I wonder if the reason don't have Alliance stuff right now is that they're going to be intimately linked to the thargoid storyline and their ships will appear as that evolves. So I wonder if there will be a strong organic component to the ships where thargoid tech is blended with the utilitarian industrial Alliance tech. Something like this maybe:

Or they could even end up looking like Starbug:

Another cool option would be that in order to save cost, weight and improve speed the alliance don't bother with armour on their ships (just big shields) and instead have lots of exposed equipment and cargo racks, like this:

No more ships!

Lets build an actual game to play eh?

Ships are tools.

Tools to enhance playing a game.

They are not a game in themselves.

Please, no more ships.

If I remember correctly, the Alliance shipyards had direct ties to Thargoid technology through a deal struck with non-hostile Thargoid factions, according to lore at least. I could be wrong so I'd need one of the old salts to correct me there.

If that is indeed the case... well, who knows what they would look like. Whatever it is, I hope they're sexy.

Thinking about this a bit more, I reckon Alliance ships should be focused on defence roles rather than the attack roles that Federation ships get or the multi-purpose Empire ships.

The Alliance fleet is drawn from the system defence forces of individual members, these forces have little need for long-range travel or transport capacity. They should be specialised for intercept and interdiction and for holding positions against sustained attack.

So I'd guess specialist alliance ships would be a set of fast, short-range fighter-class ships similar to the Viper and then a set of low-manoeuvrability large ships with high shields and hull but multiple smaller hard points to provide blockade cover over bases and convoys.
