What teensy tiny things would you like to see changed in ED?

People often come out with the big things when making suggestions, often accompanied with amusing statements like "I'm sure it wouldn't take much work" or "its simple" when requesting something that would take well over 1000 man hours. :D

But what are the small thing that could probably be pushed onto a junior and done in a few hours or less that you would like to see changed/fixed? Things that set off your OCD, or cause your inner pedant to scream, or perhaps just minor annoyances.

Here is my entry. Make the lines connecting planets look like single lines instead of separate lines.

I'm talking about this:

Also, on a similar subject, sometimes the lines, especially vertical ones, don't always look 100% vertical. There is a slight kink. Maybe its something to do with anti-aliasing or something.

I play using VR.

When jumping, there is a message on the right of the info displays giving the star type that you are about to jump to, so I use that to see whether I can refuel at that star.

The trouble is that
1) You have to look right to read it and then look back to centre for the jump.
2) Often the message fades before I get around to reading it.

The teensy-weensy change I would like would be to have the star type displayed along with the system name at the top of the central jump display that is shown when the drive is charging. Currently it shows the destination system name and checks your wanted status at the destination system. Just adding the star type after the system name would make my neck a little bit happier!

Lose the CQC rank in the right panel. (Or get some bots)
Keep my heat % visible while I'm landing and docked.
Have dotted or darkened lines representing the far side of the orbit (seeing the station's orientation mitigates this somewhat).
Let me see the navigation screen while my FSD is charging.
Fix the sound when my life support is off and I'm going through hyperspace.
Option to turn off player portraits in the com screen.

When picking a mission or accessing from the transactions tab and opening the galaxy map autoselect the destination on the galaxy map so I can just route plan, rather than have to manually enter the system name. I play on a TV in the main lounge so I have to grab the keyboard and note down the system name.

Make the FPS button combination rebindable so it doesn't constantly come on while making videos.

Sometimes the things you think are the smallest are actually the hardest to implement.
Just saying :)
It could be that the Cobra Engine would need a rewrite to get those lines correct.

Lose the superfluous galnet articles like powerplay summaries and such, or stick them behind a sub menu. Keep the front page of news for actual lore news.

I'd go with this ^ .. also in left panel I would relabel "Galactic Powers" as "Galnet" and (maybe) in the station relabel Galnet, as Galactic Powers.

as in citation (above);
The "Slow Down" warning message should appear while there's still time to slow down, rather than only appearing when it's too late.

Alternatively, change the message to read "You should have slowed down earlier, but now it's too late!" At least that way it would be accurate.

Would really really love, to see the "Slow Down" message replaced with "Overspeed"

Having more ways to help other players in the game would be interesting, and I don't just mean through synergy farming buffs or the like; more like along the lines of the Fuel Rats, Repair Rats, Messenger (data) Rats, Supply Rats, and so on...

Oh wait, you said easy... Um, I disdain gathering fuel rocks when I'm looking for something else. Refuel/recharge my SRV from my ship's power. Maybe just have a new SRV type that is hydrogen/electric powered instead to make players choose between one type or the other. [up]

But anyway, the "easy" way would be to just have SRVs auto-refuel when loaded back into a ship.

Who knows? Maybe they've already done this. I've avoided using SRVs primarily for this reason.

Footprints of the landing gear. (Not so small: landing gear that is always on the ground, even on slightly rough terrain)

1) Change the menu exit to allow "yes" to be clicked immediately, allowing the player to leave without having to wait for any delay.
2) Allow the selection of, say, 10 galactic bookmarks to be selected as targets from the HUD without the need to enter the galaxy map.
3) Allow the player to toggle the landing display / scanner when on the landing pad to "see" what's around the ship rather than taking off blind.

- Remove all lights (or the option to turn them off) that are on ship dashboards behind the HUD.

- Nav Panel filter addition- visted and non-visits stars

- Ability to deploy your SRV 25m above ground

- More varied NPC text chatter

- Remove comms messages after like, 3 minutes

All I got for now.

- Set my own convergence distance for fixed weapons

- Ability to see ALL blueprints in-game

- PIP macro bindings for Xbox One

All I've got for now now.

There ALREADY is time to slow down, just dive up or down, until you've lost a few pips from your speed, then realign to your target.

The small feature I'd most like to see is a "Select As Destination" button on missions listed on the left UI panel, so I don't have to open any maps. This should INCLUDE completed CGs.

Npc spam. I turned local chat off because of it.

CQC rank on the ranks, never played, never going to play it.

AI that hang in the station only to get blown up for lotirting

Oh... Here's one from a while back: I'd like to be able to target stellar systems from my actual canopy view of the stars, then go to the galactic map to see them there. Might be relatively easy, might not be. Can't really say for sure one way or the other.

"Huh, that looks kind of neat. Yes, I think I'd like to go there. Now then... where is there?"

...

I can see why this might not be feasible toward the core from a UI perspective, of course. It just seems like something you should be able to do in the game though. Maybe for the top most visible systems or something, since that's likely already accounted for when generating the sky map.

Last I checked, I think 6,000 was the default visible sky map star count.

I would like route plotting that spans the galaxy. Not sure on pc but on xbox we get 1000 ly routes which make it incredibly difficult to plot quickest route. You have to scan in. Find a star at less than 1000 ly and hope it was a pretty straight shot on galactic plane. Ive been told to use route plotter and the one time i tried it just said failed to plot route. Nice.

Highlight stars with a circle in the map before opening its menu. It's really hard to use in America when I have to wait for the server to send info on a system for it to display the correct buttons. It lags, highlights the wrong one, lags some more, then blocks the one I'm trying to highlight with the button window from the wrong star, then I have to highlight something off to the side and come back and try highlighting the intended star again....

A simple circle that doesn't require any kind of communication would be very responsive. Then click to finally open the menu for the highlighted star. It'd be one extra click but a lot less frustration at the same time.
