What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

Was initially using a Saitek FLY5 (with one of the buttons taped on after it broke playing that other game that shan't be mentioned). My wife got me an X52 (non-pro). Am very happy with it, barely touch the keyboard now and only use the mouse to navigate the menus while docked (the little thumb mouse on the throttle is a bit fiddly for menus).

Right now I'm using a wireless keyboard with the Razor Naga mouse. It's got X12 buttons on the side, scroll wheel and 2 more buttons just below the wheel. I like it with the game so far, but I think I will have to upgrade once I get more into dog fighting and less into shipping cargo.

Managing perfectly fine with the Xbox 360 controller. Keep meaning to tweak it just a little bit more, but worried about the ol' muscle memory and pressing the wrong buttons at the wrong time if I do :D

If anyone does not use a HOTAS (and maybe even if you do) then Roccat Powergrid on a tablet is an amazing addition. I macro'd searching and routing my 2 current trade destinations, I macro'd a docking request, then shortcut keys for landing gear, 100%,75%,50%,0% throttle, hyperspace, supercruise... Everything I need that isn't on the stick.

It's a tactile replacement for Voice Attack, because I don't want to talk to my computer... If I start barking orders at the screen my kids will think I've gone off the deep end.

Other than that, I may have already posted about My MS Sidewinder Precision Pro, but it's one of the great older sturdy sticks, and when you use one button as a sort of 'shift' key, it more or less has enough buttons.

Been thinking about this a bit and I'll likely try the 360 controller first. If it doesn't feel right though the next option may be a dedicated joystick like this:

That joystick sucks - it breaks after a few hours - buttons break, twist stops working, huge problems with windows 7 - then it just stopps working totaly

X52 HOTAS and it is great!

Previously I used a Saitek gold 3D which had a throttle and twisty stick and it was a great and loyal servant through years of heavy use with Mechwarrior 4 and Mercenaries online. Would recommend any Saitek stick that fits your budget based on my experience with them.

Sorry, I couldn't find my original post on this thread....

I've been using a wireless xbox, I just cant seem to get the accuracy I want. I think I'm going to try the HOTAS. The problem seems to be yaw.....

Edit: The problem is that there aren't enough buttons on the xbox 360 so something has to give, so Roll is connected to yaw. Right now I have it set to 'yaw on initial roll'. Thats about the best it can get.... Until the Steam controller comes out and I can put my ring fingers to work!

Don't forget force feedback (haptic feedback) support. For HOTAS and xbox 360 and one controllers inc the xbox one haptic feedback triggers.

[REQUEST] thread for force feedback support

I'd like to see a CH Fighterstick with modern force feedback implemented and a option for a twist axis on the stick with lock off optional. Or the same on a Cobra M5/Black Mamba.

I'm using only ch products. ch throttle, ch fighterstick and ch pedals. the rest are toys. ;)

Was watching Rezri's ED Twitch stream a few days ago, and he literally spent an hour raging on the craptitude of the Saitek/MadCatz X52 controllers. Numerous RMAs, lousy customer service, ghost-input problems. Sounded like an utter nightmare and (his words) "money totally wasted."

Thank gawd I have CH Products- and don't have to deal with that.
