What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

Its just another branch of Saitek isnt it?

I have one of those F.L.Y. 5's as a spare and its ok. A bit too stiff a spring, but has dual throttles, and folds away which is a plus.

Brian :)

Hasn't it got a tool to loosen the spring? Seems that pretty much every other part of the stick can be adjusted.

Didn't know that Madcatz was a branch of Saitek; thanks for that.

Edit: One thing I'm a bit concerned about - does the ability to disconnect the main stick from the body have any impact on the stability, build quality and general performance of the controller?

Just had a read on Amazon and numerous people are complaining the stick is too stiff - my enthusiasm for this controller is beginning to wane.

Anyone got one of these?

4 out 5 stars across 200 reviews at Amazon, and it's a lot cheaper than the Cyborg as well. Shame it hasn't got a split throttle - that would really come in handy for adjusting trim in flight sims.

And I've just had a thought: as I have Track IR, I have no use for the PoV stick - unless I map it to adjusting trim. :D This stick has just become my new target - OK, it can't fold like the Cyborg can but that's no biggie for me. Also people are saying that the throttle has a nice bit of friction to it - it's not completely loose like with some other sticks.

One of the annoying things about the Cyborg (the F.L.Y. and the one I have now is all the buttons are on the stick and quite close together - it's very easy to press the wrong one. With the Speedlink Black Widow, a few buttons are on the stick but a lot of them are on the base itself in a line - I prefer that configuration.

For those with the Logitech X52 Pro, lucky you for having one! Bit outside of my price range though. ;)

No, that bit just allows you to remove the stick for some obscure reason.

Looking at these joysticks, they all have throttle control somewhere... do we know (or can Ashley or anyone at FD confirm) if ED is going to support this?

They put something about Force Feedback being looked into but don't recall the throttle control being mentioned. Although (as my girlfriend keeps telling me), my memory is not what is was, so i'm more than prepared to told i'm wrong lol :p

It bloody well better. Given that the combat is going to be more like conventional flight than Frontier's, the ability to easily slow down and speed up, or even match speed with your target is essential.

They said multi-axis control would be supported in the latest interview. That generally includes throttle as well as that is just another axis. I'm not worrying too much about that: most sticks can be configured. I even got the throttle of my X52 Pro to work under OOLITE :)

By the way: I saw some people calling the X52 Pro a Logitech stick... it isn't, it's a Saitek. It even says so on the display in the picture that was shown.

I'll be seeing if my old logitech attack 3 works with this new game

A good budget 'stick, is that - I've used one happily for six years or so. However, I bought myself a new 'stick last month - a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro - which only cost me £20 (special offer), and is definitely an improvement.

do you have the x52 or x52 pro... I love the glowy look of the x52 but why then does the pro look so poopy..

I've got the Pro. It might look a bit dull compared to the X52 but Saitek put some better materials inside the Pro. The X52 contains more plastics. I just went for quality.

How in oolite? I have to use buttons on throttle stick, not throttlee axis itself?

Delighted joysticks have been confirmed. There's less choice for us lefties, but my old Saitek got hauled down from the loft and dusted off when Kickstarter was announced....

Just go to the Joystock configuration menu and select the increase and decrease thrust items and deflect (move) the thrust lever. It says "Stick 2 axis 3" in the Assigned To field and "Axis/Button" in the TYPE field.

Make sure you have the latest versions of OOLITE and the Saitek X52 Pro drivers.
