What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

I've never seen those things before. We did have a stick on our classroom BBC B. I'm sure I remember playing Defender with it.

I remember using these with the BBC Model B http://www.8bs.com/see/joyst2.jpg

I was lucky my brother had one of these we used on the BBC

Will use my trusty old Cyborg 3d ffb until it dies ,and don't ask me how I got it working under Win7 64 ,as I'm still not sure what got it going in the end:S

@memnoch at the time it was sweet and the buttons were programmable , after months of playing Aviator before Elite arrived the left right self centering was optional (pull the stick up a bit to stop return) which made manual docking easy :)

El Tel - can you post you x52 pro key setup to achieve that? I'm using the common one with the cool X52 pics of the HOTAS, yet you name many things that I need to assimilate.

Cheers

I haven't got it perfect, but here are my current assignments:

I think the manufacturers of pro joysticks and gaming mouses horrendously discriminate against us cak handed folks.

No fair on us lefties ;-)

Being a leftie myself I use the Cyborg JS.

Though to answer the OP's question I will be using the saitek x52 flight controller :)

I will be using my ancient Saitek X36 USB flightstick and throttle. It's in incredibly good nick considering it's been in the attic and not used since back when Freespace 2 was first released.

A concern was if it would run in Win7 64bit as there's been no driver releases by Saitek since WinXP. But brilliantly it's detected automatically by windows and I can calibrate with no problems under Devices and Printers.

Tested and working fine in gog.com's release of Freespace2. Whoooo come on 2nd phase Beta!

For Elite on the Amiga is was all about my trusty Competition Pro, still got it but sadly sold off the Amiga. I found Frontier and FFE were best on keyboard and mouse, especially when using num keys for manual thruster controls (think this was part of the JJFFE mod?).

Think I'll be going for the X52 Pro this time but waiting to hear how it handles in the full game rather than just combat builds. Not sure how well all the trading and navigation controls will map to a joystick or if it will be a case of switching between joystick and keyboard / mouse.

Also there is the Saitek X55 coming out soon so will see what the reviews for that are like.

Hi

For me I will be using keyboard and mouse, on the 64 I did use a competition pro style joystick I cant remember the name of it but it was rock solid so hard to break lol

Was never a joystick user, but really want one now that Elite, Star Citizen and other space sims are on the horizon. So I figured ordering a Saitek X52 Pro before they go out of stock was a good idea and now it's on its way to me.

I'm in exactly the same boat.

My X52 Pro arrived yesterday. For those of us unused to these things, its quite a sight unpacking the thing and seeing buttons and switches everywhere!

I'm sitting here with a Saitek X52 Pro. I hope they are going to support it, because I bought it just for SC and Elite.
