What's Behind your Username?

This is a silly little community building exercise, but we all have a username here that's our very own. But, why did you choose that name? Does it mean anything? Is it something significant in your life? Does it mean anything in your native tongue?

Just to fortify the community a bit😅

So, I guess I'll start. My username, DarthQuell, isn't that intricate. Many years ago, as a teen, I was a Star Wars fanatic, and I had made up a character known as Darth Quell. Over the years, as I phased out of Star Wars, the character has changed a bit and I dropped the Darth part entirely, but I had been using the username DarthQuell for years. So now, I'm literally the only DarthQuell online. If you type in my username, you'll find a ton of things related to me and my accounts, such as threads on this forum, lame "mods" I've released, and even certain YouTube videos that I'm somehow connected to (like one of the PlanElt Zoo streams)

Well half of mine is rather simple, the other is a nickname of sorts
  • Captain was a nickname given to me in my younger years jokingly as I came across rather bossy since I was short tempered. I should say during school years I managed to get a nickname for virtually any word starting with C but captain stuck.
  • Callum is an easy one, it's my real first name. I don't mind people knowing my actual name at all.

Not much to mine, I just named myself after the western quoll/chuditch because I think they're neat.

Makes sense. Actually, I don't mind people knowing my 1st name, also. My name is Lucas, so I've gotten a lot of nicknames around it, some have been usernames:
  1. Lucas Pelucas
  2. Luke the Duke
  3. Luke the Puke
  4. Lukey Dookie
It's just my real name with two end letters taken from an old character of mine lol
That's real cool. We have another storywriter here

The quoll is cool and the name itself is awesome. I just love to say quoll. Didn't know chuditch was another name, though
Behind my user name are... some funny old pants x)
Britches is actually a funny word, so it's funny to see somebody talk about britches

Well, Dee is my nickname, but it is so common on the internet that I had to add something to the name to create the accounts since the basic Dee is always already taken and I really like foxes so...I have been using this name for years on the internet. Funny part is that I have been asked too many times if I am an adult movie actress, lol. I know it is the Foxy part, but I really hate that implication.

I played World of Warcraft for many years, my character was a night elf hunter named Phoeny (derived from phoenix, I have a phoenix tattooed on me). Since I move in the German-speaking area, it was difficult for some players to read the "oe" like an "ee" and so an "ö" came out far too often. At some point my collar burst and I said "Damn it's Fini! F I N I, there's no Ö!!" in Teamspeak. I've been Fini ever since (my friends also call me that in RL, my real name is Kristina, but nobody says that, I'm either Fini or Tina)

Btw: I wonder, does "Ä Ö Ü" actually exist in English-speaking areas?

It's a king-of-the-hill-like pun in which I'm claiming an account as being specifcally my territory/space.
  • My first name is Mark.
  • Marked as a word is also used to denote something being in the possession of someone, which is convenient here as the word included my own name.
  • Turf is another way of referring to ground/territory. (It's technically a horticulture term for top levels of soil, but is also slang for a differentiated and specific space)
I mainly use it in gaming spaces because of the competitive nature and the individualized profiles they encourage. Basically, Mark (me) has claimed (Marked) this space (Turf).

Markiz as a stand-alone word in Serbian is direct translation of noble title "Marques" which is something like Duke or Count of border territory.

The reason I picked that for my usernames everywhere since childhood is because one of my favorite football players used to be Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio.

Shorten his last name to Marchis and it's pronounced Markiz in Serbian.
