Whats the best station in Sol? (For a home base)

Until I get elite and unlock Jameson memorial, I'm making sol my home system.

I'm playing as a Fed CMDR and personally I felt like Mars High would be the "captial" of humanity if that means anything. It's the new earth, in a way. So I've been using it for now but it seems very lacking for modules.

So I'm curious, for any of yall who are living in sol, what's your favorite station and why?

Sol is also my home, has been since forever. Unfortunately Sol is a really poor system for outfitting, so I just park up in M.Gorbachev for it's aesthetics.

Sol was a good home for me for a while. I was transporting gold from Galileo to the 3 nearest stations (Abraham L, Li QJ, M.Gorbachev). I was flying a stock T9 unshielded with such a short distance that pirates were never fast enough to catch me. Not sure about current price revision, perhaps even better ?

I just checked.

Buy Gold @ Galileo: 45,673
Sell Gold @ M.Gorbachev: 50,995 (5,322 profit per unit)
Round trip ~7 minutes. Say, 750T cargo space, will give you around 34 million per hour.

Also, M.Gorbachev looks identical to Mars High from what I can tell.

I Sota prospect in Brestla also has all the ships and fittings if you are looking for something specific. The costs are slightly higher (as it is a planetary depot) but it is all there.

I used to have Galileo as my home station for the longest time in Elite. Even after unlocking Jameson, Galileo is just a beautiful station visually. I used it as my home station till I got a FC and then moved everything onto that. Jameson can make a good home station after you unlock it, but honestly if you ever actually need anything you could just fly there to get it while still having Sol as your home

actually i always prefered the palm tree station in tau ceti above sol, but of the sol stations i'd pick daedalus. because name, and because eagles discounted.

I used Mars High as my base of operations for a very long time until I got my FC mostly because of Spike Spiegel/Douglas Quaid reasons.
Getting to Sol and earning my permit along the way was my first real goal in ED and it's got a great little group of systems nearby that are always generating Bounty missions.
Used to have a lovely little route round Wolf 359, Luman 16, Ross 154 & Barnards Star mopping up Pirates and earning Fed Rank.

Cruel Enslavement indeed.

Feds enslave without escape through wages and corporate monopoly, whilst an Imperial can clear a debt of honor in a specific timeframe, and then be free.

So, who's the cruel enslaver, really?
The federation gives you rights. And you dont have to worry about being human trafficked to God knows where and for God knows what. We give you a secure and safe way of life. The people vote for the leadership they want.

And if it's so easy to work your way out of imperial slavery... why are so many still enslaved? And constantly being smuggled out illegal?

I would hate to even think about the kind of abuse and treatment they get as well.

None really!

I like the system but my base is in Gupta City in Lacaille 9352 just next door. Terrible for outfitting but it's an IF and handy for all the missions nearby.

I based in Sol in my early days, soon after I got the permit and an Orca. I ran my Interstellar Transportation Company out of Daedalus. What I like about Sol is that the controlling faction at one station is a minor faction at another, so it was really easy to get top rep with all factions at all of the stations. What I didn't like about Sol is there are no missions to Sol, so you always return empty handed. It was great at first when I was just chaining sightseeing missions, but when I wanted to branch out in to other stuff I didn't like not being able to pick missions up for the return leg. This isn't unique to Sol, but is for all permit systems.

Anywhere I roam, where I lay my head is home.

My home base is whichever ship I'm in, in whichever station, planet, or system I happen to be.

That said, if I DID have to pick a home base, it would be a Tourist Orbis or Coriolis station. I LOVE those, lol.

Sol is not the greatest place for a home because there are no missions going there (because it’s a permit system), try picking one of the nearby systems. One thing sol is great at is selling metals. Daedalus has a wide variety. So running trade missions from systems outside of Sol is a great way to make money.

You're looking in the wrong system I'm afraid. Everybody knows Achenar is the capital of humanity.
Or at the very least, the capital of civilisation.
The federation gives you rights.
Y'all should take a look at the wikia,
Imperial Slaves are often better cared for and rewarded than their free, working-class counterparts in the Federation.
Imperial Slaves voluntarily contract themselves out for a predetermined amount of time to earn money to pay debts that they could not otherwise clear or to support their families.
when their term of service is completed, they are restored to full Imperial citizenship.
Individuals who violate laws concerning the transport and treatment of Imperial Slaves are subject to criminal charges.
