Well spotted but that's not it. Frank's hand does resemble the infamous dead man's hand but that's partly a hangover from an earlier idea of the poker match being like the one in Casino Royale. That idea didn't quite pan out as it would have taken too many word to describe the setup, so the Le Chiffre character was replaced by Frank, and Cathy took the part of Bond.

The actual pun is so lame that if it was a horse, the vet would be preparing his bolt gun. Talking of guns, I'd better get this one back to Mr Chekhov https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chekhov's_gun Anyway forget the cards, though a pair might give you a clue or perhaps you could ask Leon.

Is it that? The special at a pizza place in tamworth that is also the name of your dealer?

For a moment I thought you had it but then you started talking about pizza. 'The Big Deal' special at Tamworth Pizza Company is not the answer. And to save you from wasting time looking though Yellow pages for Tamworth, I'll make that point that I live over 100 miles from Tamworth so it won't be any special offer from a Tamworth based business. I hate to be a swine, but you already have enough clues;)

Great! <sigh> Now do I not only miss out on the barrel of gold, but I'm now desperate to go out and buy a pizza.

*sigh* Cathy wins with 4 kings and this is 4 king doing my head in. Ok they are professional poker players. Cathy only survives by a close shave. The community cards are AK88K which sounds like Akita.YAkita is a long haired dog. Long hair needs cutting. You can also get a close shave at a barbers. Tamworth the dealer is the person who deals the close shave. In Tamworth there is a hairdressers called Stansfield. Stansfield is also the name of the baddie in the film the Professional also known as Leon. Leon was a pig farmer. And a big deal.

Well, this will at least win a +rep from me.

On another note, shouldn't someone break this 3-way tie that's goin' on? Ain't all three of these Drabbles THAT big of a deal.

A little part of me squeals with joy at Simoof's ever more convoluted musings :D. It's much simpler than you think and really , really not worth it, but I'll wait a little longer before revealing it. I can confirm that Tamworth is the dealer and Leon is a pig farmer, although that has nothing to do with the drabble. I have no idea if about any business based in the town of Tamworth, to the best of my knowledge, I have never visited Tamworth or even knowingly passed through it.

Simoof I think there's a clue here ^^

edit: insanephoton appears to be trying to distract you but look how often he mentions Tamworth, what's he trying to hide?

Well Leon is a common name for a lion, as in Leo the Lion. And there have been quite a few big cats mistaken for the smaller one recently. A pair might give me a clue, and "Bi" means the same as two. And if you put "Bi" with "lion" you get a billion, which is a big deal of money and the star prize which is still on the table, because you've rejected... Dusty Bin.

<Wheels barrel of gold back into the vault> At times you were so close and yet so far away. I think you managed to work out that part of it was 'deal' , though that was easy enough. Tamworth was significant but you entirely missed the reason. You seemed to be caught up with it being a place name, but it's also something else. Ever heard of the 'Tamworth Two'? Do you remember what they were? That's right, they were pigs. Tamworth was the dealer, maybe he was a pig, so it was , what for it... <drumroll> 'A Pig Deal'.

<runs away and hides >
