Ships Whats your explorer builds?

I'm currently enjoying exploring with my DBX explorer, its never overheated on me, and I've sussed how to scoop stars without getting too close. I've never needed to use my afmu.

I'm starting to dive into engineering to make it jump even further. Current jump range is now 71.43ly
Anyway, whats your builds, what unladen jump ranges are you getting?

My build is https://coriolis.io/outfit/diamondback_explorer?code=A0p0tdFfldd0sdf4-------321P0i43v6012i9q.Iw18gDOQ.Aw18SQ==.H4sIAAAAAAAAA2P4x87AwPCXFUj8mQQkuPcwMTDwNvAwMAhGAFlCO7gZGFS+MDIw/Gf8Zw9XWQ8kOI5wMjDw23z7/19sAT9QnumfGEieGSRfBiT4a/78/y8i9Pf/f1ENLgYGCQWgjDJYJfM/KbhJFSCVKr/+/wfbJFIjClR5Byjzn/WfFVxRC5DgLBBnYOAyEGRgUAQpVwIRqiBCjeff////2f4lwJTzV7wBGnfgwf//eiDX/Rf65wN3WCHCuk9A1xUAtYq2AGUkPL4AVYr+i4UZIiSgzsBg2iEMdMl/BigAADEmrqosAQAA.EweloBhB2EBYQFMCGBzANokICMF8hRFA

DBX, used for Guardian sites, scouting Thargoid attacks and general nosiness.
Occasionally fitted with AX weaponry for dealing with Thargoid Scouts.

This my fravourite long range/exploration ship in my fleet: Asp Explorer - just over 63 Lyr jump range.

I know I could tweak it some more, but it does all I need. However, my furtherest distance from bubble is only about 2k Lyr beyond SagA, so I suspect that does not make me a seasoned explorer. AMFU for neutron jumping repairs btw.

Every time I see that 4A scoop on the DBX I just shudder. It's a nice enough ship for bumbling about in the bubble, but exploration - no, just no.

A lot of people say this to me, idk why. By the time the fsd is charged I've refuelled my tank to full. im thinking of getting a 16t fuel tank tbh

My Exploraconda in which I participated in the Distant Worlds 2 exploration. 75 LY unladen jumprange, plenty of amenities, self-sufficient except if the canopy breaks (as all ships are up a creek without a paddle then).

Wow, i like this build alot!

It is because Anaconda users have to scoop every time they see a star as they only have 3ish jumps in their tank compared to 7-8 jumps in a DBX. DBX users just stop at interesting systems in the north or south pole and start using their DSS while scooping without having to fear overheating.

The C4 scoop argument is only valid if you are into buckyballin colonia or SagA

btw getting a 16t tank is limiting. You can just scoop less (50%) and have the benefits of both worlds. For instance when using the neutron highway (2000ly on a tank in a dbx.. Try that Anaconda :) )

I believe that a someone, someone that's not me, went to Colonia from the Bubble without scoops... try that in a DBX

Legend says someone went to BP without scoop and came back to tell about it.

(And your point is? Everyone should use eco mode on a 70Ly+ ship?)

Do you actually fly through the centre of a neutron to get a better jump range? I've only come across one so far but didn't risk flying in the centre of it just encase i blew up!
If you fly into the jets too close to a NS you will take damage. However, NS just like black holes in ED are harmless if you approach them "from the side" at a ~90 deg angle to the jets. Go slowly the last part of the way, and exit SC before you get too close (~1000 km). Then you'll be fine, and seeing a NS up close is quite spectacular:

@Badman76 as @Skip Rockbounder says, aim for the cone. I aim for about last 25% of the cone with the star itself behind me. Only takes about 5 seconds to get the charge notice. Also be sure the galaxy map is set to take into account boosting. Not to say you didn't know that, but took me a while to find out. Every jump will do a little damage to the FSD though.
