About time someone brought up the topic of micro transactions,
The problem we have here is that 90% of us backer grew up during the golden age of gaming.
We have also seen the decline of true gaming, almost gone are the days when you bought a game and everything that you needed or liked was in the game already.
This all changed with the arrival of the XBOX 360 in 2005, in my eyes it was Microsoft who changed the gaming industry and those idiots who bought map packs, weapon unlocks, avatars and wallpapers. Though the Micro transactions concept was tested as early as 1998 it wasn’t until Microsoft 360 that they found a market for it.
We all know that before micro transaction you would have the opportunity to buy expansion packs, pretty much a full game using the same engine. But since 2005 that all changed and its steadily got worse. Now its spending another £35 on a season pass, even elite dangerous is using this by adding £45 for all future expansion packs.
The only developers that have given value for added content are Rockstar games and Bethesda at a push. Nobody wants Elite to have micro transaction, but its going to happen, and I really hope that these micro transactions don’t cheapen the game, and one thing i really hope FD don’t do is to sell ships to us, i really don’t want Elite to turn into another Star Citizen with FD selling space ships for £40+ .
