Where are they now?

I reckon we will get atmospheric landings at some point, space legs though, I don't know, that seems like doing another whole game! And TBH I'm not bothered by space legs, this is meant to be a space game after all :p;). But I do agree it would be cool to explore space stations & our ships.

C'mon Traveller_GG.... Just ONE more chorus of "The Polonium Song"....
(Trust me, once heard it is never forgotten!!:D)

I have to admit, I am thinking of re-engineering the Grey Ghost ('conda) and going back out to the Northern edge of the Galaxy - see how much further out I can get with a 140LY range (nearly double what my polonium boosted range was last time)

Some of my most favourite memories are the Polonium Song and Ziggy with his love of those poor unwanted Ice Worlds...
(Oh, and his search for the Ultimate Black Hole !!)

A fair number are still around just not as active.
Names I know off the top of my head...

Zulu Romeo, Erimus Kamzel, Allitnil, Anuranium, Wishblend, Rukmerot, Agony Aunt, Jackie Silver, Corbin Moran, Satsuma... and a fair number of others. You'll usually find them in FleetComm private group and the associated Discord.

Rukmerot is still named as such in the game and was online last week. But was required to change his forum name to R3tCrick3t, for obvious reasons if you speak Dutch :p

I'm just barely in the pioneers thread erimus made, so i guess i can answer to this. A lot of us are still here quite frankly. Exploration isn't really a thing that ever evolves or becomes boring after a certain point, so we just keep on trucking. Either you stop early on or you never stop.

Yup. Mind you, we didn't even know at the time that tags are going to be a thing. Also, I think it only worked with the ADS, not the lesser ones? Can't quite remember, but there certainly was a time when you got credited for stuff that you pinged. When the tags were applied, FD also posted a database export detailing who tagged what: see this thread, which includes a handy online search tool.

Apparently I discovered Kacha Wit and Kobogdi !!! :D

Some people, unfortunately, may have passed away.
Commander Cataclysm72 passed away July 17 last year. He built a beautiful simpit, which he described here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=171495
and we can see in action on video here: https://tweakers.net/video/13479/gathering-of-the-tweakers-de-elite-dangerous-simpit-van-robv.html
Sorry to hear him passing away.

But you need to check your dates, according to his profile his last post here was on 27 July 2017 and last activity 11 August 2017...

It seems I even scanned a Belt Cluster.
Mere A A Belt Cluster 1 ~ 7

Wait! I just checked and I have no data for that system. Something’s afoot.

THE DOC has been out exploring since release on day 1 - well really around day 7 or 8, took me that long getting used to the controls & how best to get going into exploration.

Iv made two trips to Beagle Point, around 14 trips to Jaques Station (that's 28 there & back), scouted around what is now Colonia ("spits on floor"), been on NS scouting missions, 19500 first discovered systems logged with EDSM - though in the early days I wasn't registered (so a lot of my very early discoveries haven't been logged).
Plus lots of other smaller trips Iv been out on, THE DOC is dotted around the galaxy, though I always went off the well trodden track as it irritated me if I was jumping into another player's ship steps.

Then you will have missed the systems where each planet and moon is tagged by a different commander. Or the systems where the process has been started. It kind of, gives a feeling of community.

BTW I like the new Avatar. [big grin]

Yes, these are always a nice find.
Too bad that sometimes you see 'spoiled' ones, maybe 5 or 6 different tags on nearest planets and the the remaining 40 bodies tagged by one greedy one...

My thoughts exactly. [smile]

But we can’t leave a note or even a beacon in orbit around the star to pass on info.
Got to rely on subtly and I for one am not very good with it. (Ask my wife.[yesnod])

I didn't get into exploration until I'd been playing for a while, I was mostly supporting CSG in the Lugh War and it's aftermath, yet I've got 2 entries on the first discovered list (as Freebird). I'll have to go and check them later and see what they are.

I remember now. At the time there was a question how the mechanism for gathering Belt Cluster data, worked. So I scanned the asteroid belt. Somehow there was a glitch and I could not access the system data until after I scanned it with the ADS. Then the system data appeared with my tag on a couple of planets. And I have the pictures. ;)
A bug or a glitch? Only you can decide? [alien]

For fullness, selling the data. The cartographers do recognise the discovery but give it zero value. Your on board computer remembers it has been discovered. But no tag, alas.

Going to the NGC 3199 Nebula situated around 15k east of the bubble hoping to tag something there.A few Cmdrs had tagged some of the main stars but then Swift Arrow must have flown in and scanned everything else, even on the nebula outskirts!

Yeah these days you have to go quite a bit further out to find lightly scanned nebulae. A few months ago I swung through Mynaow, and was amazed at how little was tagged. I ended up tagging at least one or two things each, in over 200 systems... and then realized that I too had only scratched the surface. It's a lot easier to find untagged bodies when the nebula is far afield, and has thousands of systems in it. :D
