The one I always see is Allitnil all over the galaxy. I think I just saw him posting in the forum here not too long ago as well...
I didn't get into exploration until I'd been playing for a while, I was mostly supporting CSG in the Lugh War and it's aftermath, yet I've got 2 entries on the first discovered list (as Freebird). I'll have to go and check them later and see what they are.
And to be fair to him you have to admire the sheer determination to have scanned all the available systems in the nebula!
Look through the list on EDSM. Lots of "silent keys", as we say in amateur radio.
Started playing at Xmas and having been to Colonia and the Core now heading for Beagle Point, swinging out along the arm from my origin at Deciat. About 6 kylies out and quite strange as you will get a run of unclaimed systems then all of a sudden find a system with a name against it. I guess the Gal Map gives everyone a slightly different path according to your range etc. At the start up to about 1 kylie I was beginning to think the path to BP more trodden than to Saggy-A. I guess some CMDRS get so far then turn back?
Not all of us are on EDSM, so the results are a bit skewed.
I think also a lot of people get a certain distance out, and just stop scanning every system after a while.![]()
All too true, as we will never find out *anything* from Frontier.
I've begun developing a fear of systems with Cool Stuff in them, because it means another part of my life is now gone forever.![]()
One of my favorite exploration pastimes is to find undiscovered systems and planets close to the Bubble. Of course this means finding many already discovered systems while looking for that needle in the haystack. Thing is, I don't recognize any of these "early pioneers". Every once in awhile I find a system that was discovered by a name I recognize from the Forum (Agony Aunt was the last one), but the vast majority are unknown to me.
I'm relatively new (started playing Elite last June), so I don't know the early players from kickstarter days unless they are still active in the forums currently. Where are these "pioneers" now? Are there many of you who have forum names different from your CMDR names, or are there really that many people who once passionately explored the galaxy who have since moved on to other things?
I actually enjoy encountering systems discovered by people I know from the forums or contacts made in-game, but it's so incredibly rare that this happens. Too rare...

Stupid Hippy, Alitnil, Jacky Silver. There, I’ve done it. 3 of the most prolific system taggers you’ll see. HA!

Keep in mind, some of us (myself included) have a different forum name as opposed to CMDR name. Barefoot Bandit is my in game CMDR name, foureggsample.

And Barefoot Bandit is also one of the tags you may find too [big grin]
