Where do we expand from?

Yup, I read the patch notes and we expand from our 'Happiest' system.

Unfortunately for me, I am always as high as a kite on morphine medication so it is possible that I misread that statement, however, if I got it correct then what is our 'Happiest' system?

Easy question, but for idiots like me, it is not so easy.

We have an awful system that we tend to ignore and only jump in when needs really must, and in the column marked 'Happiness', this system is assessed as...... Happy [Happiest]

Noooooooo This system is in the back of beyond and we do not want to expand from it.

But wait.....
In a different system we own, the Happiness status is assessed as 'Elated' Not chuffing well elated just 'Elated' The Elated system that is also in an economy state of Boom and a security state of 'Civil Liberty'

This compares with 'Happiest' man whose Economy State is.... NO economic state. Security State is..... No security state??

Where would we expand from and NO, I do NOT want to expand, I work hard trying to avoid expansion but I can only avoid it if I knew where the hit was coming from. Is it really the 'Happiest' state?

Is it the 'Elated' state, the 'Boom' state or the 'Civil Liberty' state? Why oh why alter something. Why not simply have it as a finite level of influence that could only be countermanded by conflict\war?

Whew, that's another moan off my chest :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone

John

Hey John, in this season of caring, you said that you are on some hard core meds.
Stay strong and fight hard my dude.
Care and thoughts to you from a total internet stranger.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO!

It may not be bugged yet - I won't rule it out till I see the next pending expansion at least.

I expanded from the system it was reported to be expanding from, like the old rules and expanded to a system I expected. So no surprise there.

Its the question of which system will go pending expansion should be determined by happiness, so the next one to start ought to be the +75% with the happiest populace.

Will have to wait. The first one I can't count since all systems defaulted to the same level when it started.

First off, Thank you Marcus for the kind words :)

Now to the nitty gritty.

Are you suggesting you believe we still need that 75% and please understand this is a polite question. Are you basing this assumption on what it was previously before the update as that is the assumption I got from your post.

I thought and note I am saying 'I thought; I heard the devs say expansion has now changed and it will be from the happiest system?

I agree with Dommarraa... Are they only taking happiness into consideration and why does one of our systems have the rating of Happy [Happiest] When Happy is NOT the highest degree of happiness? they would also not be taking into account either economy or Security??

It is uncomfortable to keep saying different parts of the game are bugged, but what else can it be?

We went pending today. Absolutely nothing to do with happyness.

I didn't want to believe it, but can't ignore the facts any longer. We still have 3.2 expansion, but now we cannot shorten them, and there is no longer the investment phase to extend range. Worst of both worlds.

A new expansion method was the only change to core bgs that I was looking forward to.

We have a system, not the happiest of them, in expansion and another that is "elated" that is in investment state right now. This is the first post - update expansion so we're just going to ride it out and see what happens. That's the only way to collect data that we can use going forward.

New expansion for me, its following the old pattern.

The Happiest system can't expand, and the current one echoes the pattern of the earlier picks from the system list.
