No but the fanboys think you have so

what did you think you were paying for?

The fantastic flight model,
world-class audio,
rock-solid performance,
state-of-the-art VR support
a wide range of ships to fly
great ship customization,
a stunning galaxy with insane real-life vistas to see.
That should be enough for, you know, a game. That exists.
More than one expansion.
Currently, they haven't got that.
They are "right" but also wrong, because Elite's development isn't over, so the judgement can't really be made yet.
You mean the flight model that uses artificial speed limits, requires me to press boost over and over to try to maintain my ship's maximum speed and artificially restricts yaw? Yeah, not calling that "fantastic", and I have played some very high-fidelity flight sims that properly model helicopter flight dynamics so I have some idea what I'm talking about here.
Yes, the audio is decent, but that doesn't make up for the repetitive and excessively grindy gameplay.
Seriously? Was that some sort of joke? I still have multicrew continually disconnect from me despite having both my main gaming rig and a separate laptop connected through the same household internet connection. The multicrew connection frequently drops on a regular basis and it has nothing to do with my internet connectivity which remains stable the entire time. That is 15 months since multicrew was introduced and it still isn't providing stable and consistent performance.
Yes, Elite does have good VR support. Which, much like the audio, doesn't make up for the lack of properly engaging gameplay. Also, having ongoing bugs that wipe out keybinds on a frequent basis (and sometimes they can't even be restored with a manual backup of the config file) is still a significant problem for many players, especially because VR is highly dependent on a set of keybinds that allow you to use a HOTAS properly for all ship functions. For that matter it would be nice to have a third fire button which the devs don't want to give us because they think managing weapon groups should be like a "street fighter button combo". That really gets in the way of that "state-of-the-art VR support" being well supported by the rest of the game.
Only some of those ships are actually viable to use outside of highly specialized combat roles. In fact before we got the Krait there was no competitive multirole ship comparable to the Python among those 30+ ships which tells you that only a fraction of the ships are useful to most players.
You mean the outfitting interface that still has many players using third-party sites like INARA or ED Shipyard to plan out a ship build? Or maybe the Engineering system that required you to apply a mod before actually seeing if it was an improvement over what you were currently using? Or maybe the continual buff/nerf balance for Engineering mods which has currently reached a ludicrous level of power after being nerfed several times during Horizons?
Sorry, but I've been to SagA and back, and explored every Earth-like and Ammonia world I discovered, and the most I could do was look at those planets from orbit. Hardly an "insane real-life vista" to visit when I can't even land on a planet with atmosphere.
That is about the best that can be said about Elite at this point. It is a game, that exists, just not a particularly good one due to severely neglected and underdeveloped core game features.
UNACCEPTABUBBLE!
can you say you have spent 2400 hours in another game?

I can say I've gotten far more enjoyment out of other games for far less investment of time. Of the 2400 hours I've spent in Elite at least 90% of those were boring grinds that were necessary to support the 10% of time which was actually enjoyable gameplay, around 240 hours or so. I've actually had far more enjoyable gameplay from Battlefield 4, which I've spent around 280 hours playing, because I enjoyed most of that gameplay and wasn't simply doing a boring grind to enjoy other content.
It didn't guarantee Frontier would further develop the game, it didn't guarantee those future expansions would be paid for or that their cumulated price would exceed what you paid for.
the LEP didn't entitle you to anything specific, other than access to the game and all its future expansions free of charge if any.
Clearly not the game you are looking for.. and I hate saying that.
Wouldn't that have been a great way to market the LEP?
"For the low, low price of $180, your Lifetime Expansion Pass guarantees you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Please, only one per customer. Quantities are limited!"
Then the problem is you. Cut your losses and play other games. It's what I do when I need a break. I take one.
Elite started out with tremendous potential and if FD had put in even a modest resources into development it would be far better than it currently is. The problem is that after 3.5 years and over 2400 hours the game needs to offer more than it currently does to keep players interested. Myself and many other players have been extremely patient with the progress of Elite development so far and have been waiting literally years to see substantial improvements. I was waiting to see how multicrew turned out, then how Thargoids turned out and now how Beyond is turning out. I've been profoundly disappointed so far and fundamentally that is not going to change until FD puts the necessary resources into Elite to make it into a good game.
That has nothing to do with Elite being "not the game I am looking for". It's simply not the quality of game I expect at this point and that is a very different issue.
