That question is impossible to answer without re-reading the entire thread. That's not something I am going to do, not even if you would ask nicely for it. It would be way easier if you would just link to the post Genus was talking about, but since you don't know either (which perfectly illustrates my point), you are not going to do that.

Not true, https://forums.frontier.co.uk/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=436861

Where did you get the idea that other Ants posted here?

It wasn't a product, more like a share with - up till now - a meager dividend.

More of a betting slip. The product itself the slip was definitely delivered we just don't know if people will win, lose or break even on it yet. Which is a different consideration.

That's not set in stone though is it so any answer even from FDEV would just be a guess. If the next lot of paid content sells well and is well received by the playerbase and FDEV consider it a good financial risk to create more then more will be created. The opposite is also true.

As for refunds anyone with thousands of hours logged on a purchase they made a few years ago is on a bit of a sticky wicket.

Wants a refund even if they've played with the content for years.

Yup thats not an entitled person AT ALL.

You could refund the LEP except the base game prize plus horizons.

Yes and agreed. A quick one liner would have been very sensible.

Kinda - but I guess they want the announcement of any paid updates to be in the press, so announcing via the forums is unlikely. Most you would get is 'we're working on it, no ETAs' - which you can get in most livestreams by just asking.

Considering how much Elite has changed since the advent of Horizons and now Beyond, a defensible argument could be made that the "lifetime" of the base Elite game is over. Even those with the greatest abundance of Cranium, the densest mineral in the known and several unknown universes, cannot argue that the Elite we are playing today is not the same Elite from the kickstarter days. That old Elite is dead.

The "lifetime" of the "base game" lasted only a single year based on that argument, i.e., once Horizons launched the game had its first expansion. Obviously the "lifetime" for the LEP refers to the expected development time for the Elite franchise, which was first estimated in their 2015 Annual Report as being 8 years and was subsequently reduced to 7 years in the 2016 and 2017 Annual Reports. There's also the issue that we don't have space legs, boarding actions or landings on inhabited worlds which were all stated development goals when the LEP was sold.

Given that my launcher still says "Elite: Dangerous" on it and I can, in fact, still log into the base game I would suggest it is far from "dead". Also, given that combat, trading and exploration "core" gameplay still uses essentially the same shallow, repetitive, grindy game mechanics that the game employed at launch I would also suggest here that even the expansions have not significantly progressed beyond those core game mechaincs.

Because the game changes, the LEP is now invalid? By that (atrocious) logic, Elite only lasted 56 days (1.0 to 1.1), and you should have paid for every patch since.

Genus already answered that question, anyways, I think I now know a new way to make gambles, after all, that's how you call it.

gamble

ˈɡamb(ə)l/
verb
verb: gamble; 3rd person present: gambles; past tense: gambled; past participle: gambled; gerund or present participle: gambling

  1. 1.
    play games of chance for money; bet.
    "he gambles on football"
    synonyms:bet, wager, place a bet, lay a bet, stake money on something, back the horses, try one's luck on the horses; Moreinformalplay the ponies;
    informalpunt, chance one's arm, have a flutter;
    raregame
    "I go to the races when I want to gamble"

    • bet (a sum of money).
      "they gambled their money on cards"

  2. 2.
    take risky action in the hope of a desired result.
    "he was gambling on the success of his satellite TV channel"
    synonyms:take a chance, take a risk, take a leap in the dark, leave things to chance, speculate, venture, buy a pig in a poke; More

Get on it then, nobodies taking any of these lame threats seriously as everyone knows it's just hot air.

In what way is it invalid ?.
