Hardware & Technical which flight sticks should i get? X-52 or X-52 pro?

There's no way at the moment to save/export or load/import custom bindings within the game UI. I suppose you could drop someone else's Custom.binds file into your game, though.

id love to do this. im just curious how the standard lay out looks that the elite devs have set up. i'm gonna be to lazy to program all the buttons. i'm ready to play =(

I've seen some posts to the effect that the standard bindings are pretty good. I did a little customisation, but not much.

x52

I just got 2 x52 one for home and one for work when I am on break, have not had any issues out of either one of them, price for performance I think the x52 wins out. got 2 for the price of one pro.

I have an x52 basic that I have used for the last 8 years. The throttle is absolutely amazing for space and flight sims. The only problem I've ever had with it is that the mouse nub thingy is really kind of useless in games. I would have rather had another hat or something in its place.

Now the joystick part of the hotas setup is another story. They are not accurate and do tend to break. My solution was to throw out the joystick all together and get a warthog joystick, which works just fine with the x52 throttle and rudder pedals. You could use any joystick along with the x52 throttle. I actually used the saitek cyborg joystick for an extremely long time, and it still works to this day.
I play quite a few flight sims, so my gear gets a pretty heavy work out.

My (none-pro) x52 arrived yesterday. After fiddling with the drivers and fixing the button 30/ button 6 problem I have to say it's jsut awesome.

I have never had a HOTAS before (Cyborg Evo Force was my last joystick) and the first impression was just... big!

I was afraid of the build quality and all the problems like spring weakness etc.

But I shouldn't have given so much on the comments on the internet, the thing is great, good quality and the spring is not a bit loose.

It doesn't feel imprecise or anything either.

So I don't regret buying it and I have the feeling that, if I had the x52 pro right next to the normal one, I wouldn't really notice much difference between the two.

The immersion is just perfect with a HOTAS though, I had to memorize what switch does what at first but now (already) it is second nature to pull the pinkie switch (button 6) and use the hat stick to focus on the panels or to use the I button on the throttle for boosts.

Awesome!

Some day if they release a x55 Pro I might upgrade to that but for now the x52 is perfect.

As a side note, using the x52 really helped me decide to buy an Oculus Rift, using both will be beautiful!

p.s.

Tempered, you prefer the Cyborg over the x52 joystick? I used the cyborg evo force for all my joystick gaming before and I thought it really aweful, the centering never worked right (corrected a bit with the 'mod'), the mechanics of the stick compared to the x52 with its silvery plate-thing below the spring seem far worse to me.

Centering and spring tension (while not very strong) seems far improved on my x52 compared to my old cyborg.
