Which ship to buy if you already have the 3 big Cs?

Chieftain for immense pew-pew fun.
Raw DPS can't match the big three, but it's way more fun to delivery the DPS in style.

iCourier with heckin' zoomer drives for wheeeeeee fun.
Everyone needs a ship that'll boost to 800+ for giggles. Hell, stick some weapons on it and harrass people if you want. You can almost outrun plasma rounds, LOL.

DBX, stripped down for insane jump range.
Taking the tedium out of materials gathering; It's not fun by itself but it sure does remove most of the tedious jumping when your're bouncing around the bubble. I'm up to 66LY with an SRV. Palin is a 3-minute trip from the middle instead of a 15-minute one.

I'm sorry for the off topic but...

CMDR Ziggy im very interested in your DBX (mine is only 57,8Ly) and iCourrier builds.... mind sharing them?

I didn't know that about the dbx. Awesome! My explore conda gets similar range. I realize the conda is way more expensive than the dbx, but the benefits are worth it:
-it can ferry almost all of my modules across the bubble for quick engineering visits (8 jumps from my base to Maia)
-7a scoop is a joy to operate
-stripped down it still has 1200 armor
-add 8 class 1 lasers and only lose 2ly
-it's a bad*** conda, FNS Scarecrow Boat

I have some legacy mods (drives & PD) with mass reduction secondaries that you can't get anymore. That's what pushes mine up to 65LY instead of the 63.3 here.
You need to take the 'stripped down' experimental effect wherever possible and dump the large fuel tank - you don't need 32T of fuel for short hops in the bubble.

iCourier: https://eddp.co/u/pMZNSlVx
876m/s with minimal engineering - you only need the the G5 dirty drives with drag drives mod on a 3A enhanced performance drive and downsized modules as shown.
If you want to power the shield and scoop you will need a G2 or better mod on the powerplant too, but these are both optional.
I have seen videos of iCouriers going well over 900m/s and I've seen ones with multicannons boosting at almost 800m/s. Mine was only ever about 720m/s because it was pre 3.0 engineering.

I definitely do use my Anaconda to ferry modules to engineers, but as a bubble-hopping taxi the problem with it is that it's expensive for ship-transfer.

I also use the DBX as a taxi to quickly ferry me between different places I've left my ships, there's a sort of love triangle in my fleet formed by Sol, Shinrarta Dezhra, and Kamadhenu. My DBX taxi is travels almost as far via ship-transfer as it does with me at the helm! :D

Is there any ship which can do anything better than one of the 3 big Cs?
Yes, any small or medium ship can land at Outposts. The Python is a good choice, since is fairly nimble and can carry a lot of cargo. Some missions can ONLY be completed in a Python.

Personally, I prefer my (heavily engineered) AspX. I fly it most of the time and it has an ~50 ly jump range, depending on modules.

I guess the Python is the superior choice here. I compared Python with FDL and Chieftain "on the paper" with EliteShipyard.

The Python has:
+ more fire power
+ more Internal Compartments
+ can hold more cargo
+ higher jump range than FDL
- less agility than the other 2

FDL has:
+ better shield
+ more speed
+ more agility
- very low jump range
- very small fuel tank
- less internal compartments

Chieftain has:
+ best pitch/roll/yaw rate of the 3
+ good jump range
- less internal compartments
- drifts
- low shield
- canopy breach when hull tanking

Did I miss something? :D
Any reason why I should choose another medium sized ship than the Python?

What's not shown on paper is stuff like how many MJ a boost uses and therefore how long between boosts at just two pips, how fast the ship slows down from a peak boost speed, how well the ship turns when outside the blue zone.

From memory;

The Python and FdL can't boost as often as the Chieftain which has infinite boost with pips to spare.
The Python and Cheiftain drop back to normal speed faster than the FdL after a boost.
The Python is the worst outside the blue zone by a wide margin, followed by the Chieftain which drifts slightly all the time (but is somewhat negated by infinite boost), and then the FdL turns very well under normal thrust but is sluggish and drifty at boost speeds.

The Python, despite being inferior in combat to either the FdL and Chieftain is still the biggest cargo load for a medium pad, which is incredibly handy.

A warning about the Python if engineered, I find I have no reason to undock my 'conda anymore, Corvette too (res sites more fun with FAS than 'vette IMHO).
Which is why I suggested a small, fast ship to boot around in.

You missed a lot. For the price to buy and outfit a Python you could buy an FDL that will excel at combat, whereas a Python won't. You would still have enough money left over to buy a T9 that will outhaul a Python. Of course a FDL has bad jump, it's a combat ship. You should not be hauling cargo in it, running a fuel scoop or any other unnecessary modules. So many players on these forums try to multi role ships that are not multi role. And why fly just 1 ship? when you can buy mulitple ships that run circles around multi role ships at their given task.
