Which side of the toaster/letterbox do you enter station in ?

Just curious, and apologies for a non FC thread :)
I am British and I put the green light on the left and go in on that side, and everyone else is upside down 😂

you? left right or centre ? or red side always ? :D
I remember there being a thread about this a number of years ago where a "yank" was teasing us "limeys" about having to drive on the wrong side of the road... or upside down. I replied that for us limeys it was just a matter of following the nautical convention of green on starboard (right) side. But in practice, as I fly flight assist off, while I mostly put the right hand of my ship to the green light as its nautical convention on the way in, but on the way out, it depends on where my pad is whether I go out upside down with the starboard light of the mailslot on my left or rightway up with the green light on my right.

Too bad you're not left-handed...
So we've established that green on the right is correct then? I guess if that's what they announce, I can't really argue with it. :unsure:

Might have to visit Jaques Station again to change my signature picture...

I don't use EDDI - but - little known fact - once you clear the mailslot, your directional compass points towards your landing pad so you don't need to worry about what up you go through the mail slot.
This is a life saver little tidbit. I didn't know this until after playing for a year and fumbling around like a fool looking for the [gently caressing] pad.

Green should always be on your right. That was the original design, both NPC's and ADC follow this rule

Red = Port = Left.
Green = Starboard = Right.

It's the law, innit?! :unsure:

+EDIT+

To be pedantic, I suppose it could be argued that the mailslot is on the "front" of the station so you should keep the red light on your right hand side because the station is an "oncoming vessel".
Personally, I'd argue that the red and green lights are marking the mailslot, itself, rather than the station as a whole.

Either way, I guess you're never on the "wrong" side. You're only ever "upside down". ;)

I enter the same way that auto dock and the NPCs use the Entrance/Exit.
That way I will never have oncoming traffic as I enter or leave. Unless it takes up the whole entrance.

and I like to have the same orientation as the npcs.

I follow the rules. Green side is the right side. Speed below 100m/s.

I'm terrified of those triggerhappy ba$tards out there who shoot innocent NPC's wedged inside the letterbox after traffic controller fu**d up.
I don't want to be next 😨
