The person taking up the role of Elite Dangerous Executive Producer is Gerard, who's been a key member in the team for a long time. The production team remains the same in terms of the experienced stalwarts such as Adam, Eddie, and Sally. The wider development team remains the same too, with names you know and love such as Sandy, Laurence, Dav, Steve K, Dom, and so on!
As for the Dev Update, with 2.4 being very heavily focused on narrative it may transpire that there's not a great deal that can be discussed to the lengths of these blog posts without spoiling large portions of the story and further development of lore. We're, of course, always looking for ways to improve the ways in which we communicate upcoming content so there's a possibility of doing something similar in the future. On this particular point we'll be looking at alternative means as we move forward.

For instance, I'd love to have a Dev Update from SJA regarding the AI.
He will be replaced with a cunningly disguised Thargoid, of course.![]()
Simples. Who, when, and will that person return to doing the wonderful Dev updates?
Paige Harvey, I think. He's going to be the new community manager.

It would be very cool if you could bring the dev updates and the active discussion back post 2.4, when the focus will be fleshing out of core gameplay. If would be great if priorities and changes could be discussed with the community, maybe even in a similar form as in the DDF.
Yeah, I guess what we really want from FD dev updates is talk about anything they work on regarding techologies, new features. I guess that's a major problem, because way it has caused issues in the past - features being delayed, dropped, or heavily modified.
Question is though - has it made anything worse? I think FD has to shrug that past experience off and try to show us some exciting stuff they work on even if they aren't 100% sure it will land soon in the game. I would certainly take Dev updates about * upcoming minor (and potential major) improvements in astro stuff (planet surface improvements, comets, even explaining how current stuff works, like generation of star layer, would be AWESOME) * AI work (give SJA a soapbox, I would LOVE to read update from her about how AI work is done on ED in general) * BGS (enough said, there's still incredible number of people out there saying it doesn't exist) and so on and so forth.
There are A LOT of stuff that can be done via Dev Updates without getting spoilery or promissing any big features you want to keep under the wrap till it gets green ok from release POV.
So yeah, bring back dev updates. Tell juicy details about implementation, and what kind of tech do you use. We all love that kind of stuff.
SO MUCH THIS.
Dale, this is a must have. If your focus is core gameplay after 2.4, you really have to do dev updates with your intentions and plans. Collect feedback early. Let's make Elite great again/greater than ever!

P.S. I'm still waiting for a photo of the "SDC Construction" sign on the building being built across from Frontier's HQ. Don't make me book a ticket to Cambridge. I'm too cheap for that!![]()
Thanks Howard. Can I just thank you for helping make Elite: Dangerous one of the best games ever. We don't see you on the forums as often as we'd like. Have a great weekend and keep up the great work.I took a photo a couple of months ago: https://twitter.com/rhevian/status/847361477119852544
I always knew Steven Gerard could program code if he really applied himself. The person taking up the role of Elite Dangerous Executive Producer is Gerard
