Why are n00bz so rude... "?"

I got lonely... so I flew to the n00b systems...I thought helping out n00bz woud be FUN!!! But, quickly I am educated to the unexplainable fact that n00bz don't want help. THEY WONT EVEN ACKNOWLAGE MY EXISTANCE!!! I pull them over, gain a fine for my courtesy ( FDEV), and they completely ignore me. I don't understand this behavior. Will someone explain it to me PLEASE!!!???!!!

They're new to the game. They probably don't know you're a human player.

The ones that might have an idea that you're human probably don't know how to activate comms yet. And comms just changed, so the ones who knew about it have to relearn it, along with everything else in the game.

And there are others that don't give a rat's derriere.

well... the last hauler, began flipping around wildly, and slammed into my ship... killing himself, and doing 1% damage to my shields... so now i have to WAIT 2 hours to clear my ship, because he/she/they 1. can't fly, 2. were utterly rude, and 3. dont know how to use comms...

Shouldnt there be a notification to new players when Player Interaction is initiated? one that could manually be turned off in settings, not unlike the preflight checklist???

I had a similar experience. Pulled over some sidewinder to see how I could help them. No responses, they just put full power to the E rated drives and continued on their aimless way.

So let me get this straight.
1. You want to help noobs
2. You let one crash into your ship
3. you blame them they can't fly.

Bravo, mate. Bravo.

It's good to see new players getting such a positive first impression from such evangelists such as the OP.

And please try and remember.. this is NOT a social MMORPG. It is a space game, that also have real players in it. Much like the M1, you might feel like some company, but it's unlikely that driving next to some random car and shouting HI! through the window is going to have the desired effect...

IM rolling at this one!!!

Could it be they don't actually need your help, just like we didn't needed anyone's help when we were the noobs?

i needed help...

I often head into Starter Space to try and help new Players (see the first link in my signature), and I honestly believe that the main problem for the new Players is that they do not (yet!) understand how to use the COMMS system. However, I have managed to help new Players with less than an hour of game experience.

That's not a great analogy. The game has tools designed for player communication and interaction. Playing your own way and actually using them for their intended purposes doesn't make you a weirdo analogous to screaming at strangers in traffic.

i have helped quite a few... but im at 20% success rate.

Wait, you interdicted them?
If was a newbie, I'd be very skeptical about some who interdicted me claiming he wants to help. Interdiction is a hostile action, that's why you get a fine in the first place.

Apart from that, I can think of a number of reasons why they don't need or want the help.
• They're going about a mission/objective/goal and don't want to be forcibly interrupted
• They want to learn the game on their own
• They have already learned a lot of by following many of the great tutorials on the internet and simply want to practice it
• They don't know how to respond / or have it disabled
• They don't understand english
etc.

Noob : Quietly flying through space looking at the scenery....

ALERT ALERT YOU ARE BEING INTERDICTED

Gets dropped out of Super Cruise doesn't know why ????

Noob : OMG OMG OMG Hes just dropped out right behind me !
Noob : tries to jump ... Ships screaming at him that he has to wait for cool down of Friendship drive ? WTH is a Friendship drive ?
Noob : OMG boost .... Boost

Ship : Insufcient bla bla in bla bla to boost

Noob : OMG OMG

Noob : I know ! Evasive manoeuvres... flip around and fly past him !!

OP : o7 !

Noob : WTH is o7 ?????!???!

Noob : Flip .. Boost ... Splat !

Actually it's quite apt.

My car also has tools for communication and interactions with others - but it does not mean I'll answer the phone to a complete stranger while I'm driving or flash my lights / honk my horn at them just because I can.
Sure I'm happy to drive at rush hour, but I'm not trying to make friends with the other drivers.
