Why are the tags on workshop blueprints still like this? Can they please be changed?

I've seen some folks bring this up, and I'm surprised it's still a problem. So many blueprints from the workshop seem to be tagged with every animal imaginable:

This is especially common with habitats, and items for habitats. I'm sorry, but there's no way this climbing gym is meant for elephants, hippos, and tortoises.

Why is this still so common? And why are we still not allowed to remove those tags ourselves? It makes it incredibly difficult to find items for a specific species.

Less important maybe, but I also noticed that typing into that little search bar will give results only of items with that word in the item's name, not in the tags. At least my custom tags. I'd personally like, for instance, if I typed in "enclosure," it showed every item with the word enclosure in it's name AND items I've given my custom tag "enclosure." That would streamline everything.

Yea, I think I noticed this happening, even though I don't use the tags or search thát much.
You can add custom tags, but... you can't remove them then?... - That would be weird. - Well, just your own, I guess, and not the default ones.

But the search-system seems kinda broken anyway, because... as you mentioned the search-bar, I don't think it's all thát illogical for it to ignore tags, but I also found that sometimes it does NOT show things that have the term that you typed in the name in the results. (I think it was with one of the wood log items not responding to "log" or anything, and it would only show up without anything in the search-bar. So it might happen for some other items as well.)

And another thing that's annoying is that the filters are too elaborate or convoluted to use, especially in the very short menu you have to scroll through. - I feel like they could do so much with all that empty space on that bar, like put filters of choice there to toggle (not only when they're turned on or selected) and then also custom filters/tags. - It all needs to be way more direct and snappy in terms of workflow.

They use space very inefficiently in this game's GUI. Not everywhere, but definitely in some areas we interact a lot with.
But yea, they could also implement the tags better. Though, I would just make it all about the filters since they can also filter by animal and such.

Also, elephants, hippos, and tortoises can totally use that if they like. Don't discriminate.

oh they let you remove your own custom tags, you just can't remove the tags that the original creator added. Which wouldn't be a problem, if it weren't for the fact that half the blueprints I find are tagged with every species in the game o_O

Agree about everything else I think. The whole system needs to be fixed.

Firstly, I am absolutely grateful for the workshop and all of the incredible builders that submit their creations. My zoos would look a lot worse off without them.

But yeah, sometimes having too many tags on a blue print can make searching for things difficult. Think about all of the building items, any material or theme that the parts of are listed in the tag. Any habitat using any enrichment or feeders, the animals the game automatically connects to the feeder or items gets tagged. I'm not against the tags being there in the first place, but I have long wanted to have a way to remove tags if we want to.

That way, when looking for a habitat that's ideal for one particular species, the other 102 habitat animals do not also pop up in the tags.

Editing Tags is necessary imho!!!!
They could save the original tags from the creator (which can be restored anytime on the blueprint) but let the player deactivate them and add other tags.

Another thing for me, but maybe someone can give me a hint how i could do better:
The tag management general could be much better. The dropdown list when saving a blueprint is terrible.
Mostly i need region / biome tags, so maybe DragnDrop them would be nice, or at least a better smart feature, that detects correct tags from the objects i used for the blueprint, and add them automatically which i can remove also ofc.

I gather that the search function for blueprints is kinda borked in general, there have been multiple threads and discussions about it. I just ... scroll. A lot.

You’re not wrong, I actually made a submission to the issue tracker because of it:

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/50941

We’re so close to getting it confirmed it think! Hopefully they’ll do something? (If you decide to support it, just remember to tick the “can reproduce” box, or it strangely won’t count.)
