Why are there No New Exhibit Animals for 2024?

A bizarre occurrence for this year is that neither of the two DLC packs for 2024 have a single exhibit animal. We didn't even get one as a free anniversary animal. Like them or not, they're an essential part of rounding out this game's biodiversity. Without them there'd be no amphibians, no bats, no sloth, no snakes, and not a single arthropod!

And what better way to celebrate the progress that's come thus far by... not having any exhibit animals at all. Apparently. This is a genuine question, how can there be any remote celebration of this game if the other half of the animal roster is being completely ignored? This makes no sense at all, and I wish one of the developers would answer why exhibit animals have been disserviced so unjustly this year and especially for the monumental 5th anniversary.

And there were so many options to choose from too! Cobras, mambas, pythons, the Lord Howe Island stick insect that got cut 4 years ago, throny devils, bearded dragons, geckos, chameleons, and a whole lot more!

geckos and chameleons would have been cool, but colour changing and that foot movement animation, I can understand putting it off. Maybe they would make an arrival in the next version of PZ or if there are any more DLCs, in a later DLC. wishes on a star, throws a penny in the well, blows out candles on a cake, finds a four leaf clover 🤣

Exhibit animals are only really animated if they're in walkthrough exhibits or fully underwater. Otherwise they're quite static so complex animations aren't a huge issues for chameleons or geckos. The former also don't strictly need colour-changing since that's largely based on their mood anyways.

I am sad that they decided there’s not enough room for exhibits in favor of Scenary stuff. I’m sure the Scenary will be nice but cmon they can surely put exhibit animals in. I am hoping to include more in my reptile only zoo. This pack would have been the best chance for the king cobra or Jackson chameleon. Barnyard could have had silk worms.

Getting scenery instead of an exhibit box was a decent choice in my opinion.

Getting a new walkthrough species would be amazing, but I can't think of much that would qualify. Besides birds, but they won't do that for just one DLC.
Getting a traditional exhibit could be interesting if it's a chameleon, cobra, etc., but in the end it's just gonna be a different species in the same decor.

The new format of 7 habitat species with some scenery caters to players who like scenery while releasing more animals per pack than they did before.
Going without an exhibit species is a sacrifice I'm willing to make, as the alternative is either not getting scenery or scrapping 3 habitat species this year.

I really wanted the painted river terrapin that got cut. It would have worked better as a habitat animal since they get quite large. I wish frontier really overhauled exhibits. If they do PZ2 that needs to be a priority like birds and aquatics. Reptiles and amphibians got shafted in this game, hopefully they amend it if the do a sequel.

Nexus mod doesn’t show a great selection of exhibit animals. Here’s to hoping a modder gets on that soon.
I also think WTE are a lost cause. Had potential but they gave us all they planned for WTE. I was really hoping for a WTE koi pond or a turtle pond if they were not going to give us birds. Maybe they realized our expectations for birds became too high.
After going to a reptile education center called Riverside Reptiles and seeing the reptile house at San Diego zoo I really became interested in having a collection of reptiles.
