Why bother with community challenge if CC resets after beta?

Not to mention, most people raise the prices of the animals, because other people raise their prices. Its an endless cycle of not having credits and needing them. Eventually, I expect the in game animal market to crash, since the prices will be so high, that eventually no one will be able to buy animals at all.
That's part of the fun. :devilish:

but in all seriousness I don't think it will ever get that bad & I don't think price gouging is happening as often as we're fearing. I see far more people offering up generous pricing than greedy ones.

I just wished there was a far easier way of getting conservation credits, so that you can buy animals that require them.

When I finally got enough credits to get 2 lions, the male lion died within days (he was super cheap and old). Luckily she got pregnant but when she went to give birth? Two girls. Gosh darn it! Not enough credits to buy more lions, no boys to keep it going...back to mass breeding my animals. the struggle is real.

I wish they'd make the age of the animals more apparent, so that it would be easier to know the age of the animals you buy. Sadly, most of the animals I'm buying are for dollars, so they'll probably die soon, as they were really cheap.

Just sold 10 'gold' lions m/f (stats 70+/80+) for 500, hopefully people will use them and not sell them.

Saw 1 immediately being sold for 750 again. prices are crazy, 1-2 hours ago they were at least 500 cheaper for 'gold' ones.

Bought a great young male lion yesterday (too much inbreeding), aged a bit more but almost every lion cub is gold and rarely silver.. Got 5-6 lionesses.

It's interesting that this thread is a lot less about the challenge itself now and more about the pursuit of it. It's cool to see people at different stages and makes me feel better about not having been able to breed any gold lions yet lol. I agree that it is a shame to see people poaching cheaper animals off of the market and reselling them for profit. It really takes any satisfaction out of selling stuff under market price to help out when you see the exact same animal back up on the board immediately for more. I've talked about fixes for this kind of behavior in other threads, but it's just poor sport I think. Not "wrong" per se, but certainly a bit rude and underhanded compared to earning the CC honestly.

A way to cheat the system is by inbreeding, but then the poor soul who purchased the animals will get one that sucks completely.

I think after release, the market will even out over time.
It will be like it is now at first, but demand has to go down over time, while supply will increase. I believe it will find it’s happy place.

The exception may be challenges like this, that will increase demand, thus prices, for the target animal.

I don't how the friends part is going to work in the finished game. (becoming Friends with an ingame feature or you have to be friends in Steam)
But you can help people out on the forum, people who are really struggling and people who don't mind giving a good animal.

I'm also trying out the market, really interesting.
I just put a 2500 gold 15 y/o African Elephant on the market, gone within 3 minutes.. It was cheap and the only male. But approx 2,5 times the worth as the designated price.

I noticed it too, a lot of topics eventually becomes a topic about the pursuit of CC. Shows this is something people worry about.
i agree, like most games, the market will sort itself out.

If only the game presented ways to earn the credits without using the market, or just releasing animals to the wild.. Perhaps a mixture of career and franchise mode, like a sort of challenge mode, where you complete tasks for conservation credits.

tbh I was doing it because of goblin brain going "hnnnngggg progress bar we fill yes?" also cause I like lions.

As far the concerns of losing everythign come beta end? I'm look at the playing I am doing now as practice for the full game. I have these practice zoos now that I can use to dust off my general zootycoon skills and fingure out how to do things like build raise walkways that go over exhibits. Which still eludes me. The walkways just don't want to go over the barriers :|

I can create a spiral staircase into the heavens but not a raised platform for guests to view my elephants :|

Haha CompLady it is a right pain. You need a good deal of clearance to make it work.

And yeah I'm not bothered about losing my progress. I have a few cool builds but they've only gotten better over time, so they'll be even more grand in November.

I'm not even really trying to get a lion, since they sort of bore me to be honest. Its annoying though, since I really like gemsbok, and I'm stuck with older, probably inbred ones.

@Voids Light you can start with crappy animals and get silver-gold ones in about 3 generations if you bring in a mate from the market once per generation.
So, buy 2 animals of any quality. Mate them. Mate their best offspring with a random animal from the market. Then mate one of their offspring with a decent animal from the market. Helps to have a new pen for each generation's chosen parents.

I had a really high quality Gemsbok, and a silver quality one, and bred them in a pin separate from their main exhibit. Sadly, the male Gemsbok that was gold quality died before he got to meet his child.

I keep seeing that progress bar get closer and closer every day and it kind of puzzles me as to why people are investing so much time and energy in the lions when they could be just focusing on what they enjoy. I know there would be a great sense of accomplishment if we get there and you can look back and say that your lion breeding zoo with all 100 of its females was able to release nearly 1000 screwy lions that died out because they were all infertile lol.

Mostly I'm joking, but I am genuinely curious to hear from those that are chasing the goal.

Why do anything when you will die eventually? Why climb Mount Everest? Why play the beta at all when all our zoos will be wiped? Why cross the road to catch a chicken? Why?!
