Oh! Okay! Cool!I know, didn’t mean to imply you were straw-manning me, just huffing and puffing to a friendly ear.

Well, you don't really, do you, member since 2015 with 8 posts, 2 of them in this thread. That’s not what I said. But never mind, if being angry makes you happy go for it. I’m going back to the completely unplayable garbage game that’s so much worse than horizons. I really should know better than to even read these forums, let alone post on them.
Then maybe don't pretend what's being released isn't for early adopters so we could make that informed decision....
I think the lesson here is if you want to avoid this type of heartache then don't be an early adopter. I'm not saying it's right but this is what we've got and it happens in Elite: Dangerous and every single other game that I regularly play.
Plent of newly released games on steam with positive and mostly positive review scores, makes me wonder why all the Odyssey happy players can't take two minutes out of their hard core playing time to leave a positive review (or maybe it's because Steam will only allow actual owners of the game to leave reviews).Yes they do, all the time. That’s 4158 reviews out of a player base of 500k odd ( according to rumour ). A lot of people didn’t buy it through steam. A lot of other people won’t leave a review unless they are unhappy about it. Clearly there are thousands of unhappy players though and FDev need to sort it. I suspect that way more than 31% of the playerbase are actively playing and enjoying Odyssey though, despite the many “features”.
Perhaps those "new guys" in forums are people who either got the game recently, and liked what they saw, or old veterans who have not played ED for a long time. I have about 1.5 khours in game, about 48 hours now in Odyssey and I mostly like what I saw and got. There are rough edges and some rather nasty bugs, but I do know those things will be patched over. Some years to future and we see in these forums again stuff like "this new dlc is pure excrement, Odyssey is better, I will refund now...open letter to Fdev..I demand apology"Well, you don't really, do you, member since 2015 with 8 posts, 2 of them in this thread.

Super super positive members, accounts from brand new all the way back to 2015, generally with less than 20 posts and all sound the same: Awesome addition, bugs yes, but definitely will be fixed in time, some give a fun rendition of a mission they played thru, then you've got those account with the slightly off English, sounding for all the world like Eagle Boy. None of them ever mention the fact that an alpha was being missold as a release version, just that most software releases these days, unfortunately, are sold far too early but that's now an industry standard...

Now I recall "politics and religion" being inappropriate on the forums, and the moderators even found way to censor my comment about investors as "politics", so I know this wont fly....True. All things are possible...
Matthew 19:26.....But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
I don't think steam would let me leave a review for a product I didn't buy from their store, will they?Plent of newly released games on steam with positive and mostly positive review scores, makes me wonder why all the Odyssey happy players can't take two minutes out of their hard core playing time to leave a positive review (or maybe it's because Steam will only allow actual owners of the game to leave reviews).
Hilarious! Screenmonster posts a pic to prove ED:O looks better than ED:H and those defending ED:O think it looks like crap. You can't make this stuff up.Take the most dull looking planet, land on dullest plain. Them complain that Odyssey planet tech is garbage. Yeah one could do likewise in Horizons too.
Simply that Odyssey brings almost nothing in terms of gameplay compared to Horizon. What point are you trying to make? You asked us to imaging playing Odyssey without having our own ships.
Firstly, I don't have to imagine, I was in the Alpha. Secondly, we do have our own ships, so your point is moot.
Then maybe don't pretend what's being released isn't for early adopters so we could make that informed decision.
Why can't I see all the bad?
Screemonsters pic btw is IRL pictureHilarious! Screenmonster posts a pic to prove ED:O looks better than ED:H and those defending ED:O think it looks like crap. You can't make this stuff up.
I kind of teeter between light grey knight and doomsayer, depending on bugs and crashes. As a sith I obviously only see things in absolutesSome people are glass-half-full, some are glass-half-empty. The empty ones are unhappy - as ever![]()
They'll carry on being unhappy whatever fdev do.
I posted the IRL picture of a salt flat when some dude accused me of maliciously and deliberately posting a bugged screenshot where the texture hadn't loaded, when the texture had in fact loaded and was pretty much spot on.Screemonsters pic btw is IRL picture![]()
All rightI posted the IRL picture of a salt flat when some dude accused me of maliciously and deliberately posting a bugged screenshot where the texture hadn't loaded, when the texture had in fact loaded and was pretty much spot on.
As in, my screenshot (and thus ED:O) was no more "missing textures" than an actual photograph.
You are totally right but poor implementation, execution and release may cause irreparable reputation that harm the long-term future of the game or even its demise... that would truly be sad day for all of us!
If that were true the game wouldn't have made it past 2015.
I have confidence in Frontier to make stuff work just like they did after the initial release in 2014 which was also an abomination. The DOOOOM posting won't make them work faster.
DOOOOM
Then they should leave a Steam review, because things look a bit lopsided. I'm sure people are just playing Odyssey with tears of joy streaming down their faces though, and don't have time to put a review up.I’d bet there is a silent majority enjoying the game
