Why did i wait soo lonng.?

Just bought a clipper on a drunk'n whim the other night.

Been grinding for the cutter and got a lil impatient,
25% til I finish current rank then 1 more full rank and it's mine.,,

Well anyway to the point.
I'm really liking this clipper. It can handle the power/trade/combat demands that makes any ship desirable..(fsd is kinda weak but I'm heading out to farseer now we'll see how that goes)

fly's like a stick of butter,
compared to my 'Conda which is like flying a 2×4 wrapped in sandpaper..

I may have spent a few months of my game life in the Clipper. A very fine ship... Perfect blockade runner for community goals with high speed, ok cargo and good speed, although since 2.1 you need a good dirty drive tuning to make it as good as it used to be.

When I had it I think I died maybe 2 times, once to a bug and once to biting off more than I could chew in a combat zone. :D

It does seem somewhat overlooked. Its a great multirole ship, can be awesome in PvP and useful as a trader particulary since it can be engineered to be really quick thats good for combat and if people want to do cgs in open since it will outrun most other ships.

The only downside is it cant dock at outposts

Seriously underated ship. Just engineered mine using spare mats , 23ly jump range and with an average roll at Palins for g5 dirty drives i can hit 550 on boost. Pair of Beams and a pair of multicannons, great little hit and run combat outfit for res sites.

I had to Clippers destroy my Corvette the other day. Been playing this game since the beginning and have never owned one. Might have to revisit my decision. Fly Safe

What are you drinking?
When I'm drunk I usually make bad choices, very bad choices.

The Clipper is one of the most fun ships to fly imho.
Not particularly practical but boatloads of fun, fast, turns on a dime and I love that engine sound!!!

You'd think that Gutamaya would've implemented some of the maneuverability of the Clipper into the Cutter but noo, that thing turns like a tectonic plate in the iceage.

there is generally very, very few reasons in ED to wait for.

currently enjoying my t9 on my third account instead of the cutter on my main, while my main is out exploring in a DBE instead of the conda, and flies a python for trade in the bubble instead of above mentioned cutter ;-)

It's overlooked because the Python can do literally everything better (OK maybe not piracy if they try to flee, thanks to the Clipper's outrageous speed) and also has the advantage of not limiting you to large pads.

When credits weren't so easy to come by, I'd imagine its price point was a major attraction but now that anybody can get the cash for a half decent python together in a moderately determined weekend and make the credits to A-rate it even faster because y'know, they own a Python now, it seems to be a ship in search of a purpose.

I wish so much that they'd come up with a design tweak that retracts the nacelles a little so it could land on medium pads because when you look at its internals it is by any reasonable standard a medium ship. Alternatively a jump range buff would get me using it as an explorer but right now with a grade 5 FSD mod and other engineering tweaks it still comes in over 20LYs down on any of my explorers. I did use it for passenger missions for a while but again, the pad restriction drives you mad when you keep seeing missions that you want and can't take.

I'd fly mine a hell of a lot more if it wasn't for the pad restriction, it is a fantastic ship to just fly especially with grade 5 dirty drives on it.

The one thing I do NOT like about it is there is no convergence of weapons. For example if I wanted to use beam lasers on the wing tips I cannot because you can only hit with one laser at a time unless you get very close. You have to use gimbled if you want to hit anything with both.... Unless they changed/fixed that since the last time I flew it...

I went from a Type 6 to a Clipper and all of the sudden.... Life was Good.

Cutter sort of reminds me of a Clipper hauling lead.

I was spoiled by the FFE imperial courier. The icourier and iclipper were pale versions of the experience with the FFE icourier. (imo, i know many like the clipper. maybe if the wingspan was shortened for medium pads it would be a top ship too) So I stuck to the python and now the cutter feels like the days of old, except it also moves and drifts similar to a boeing 747, which I'm ok with since I was an FSX-pmdg nut previously.

Yeah the clipper is great fun, I'm using it for the first time now. The raw speed and shield regeneration rate is fantastic.
