Why do I own a T9?

I'm ranked Elite in Trading and I'm at stations that I'm allied with a significant majority of the factions yet I checkout the mission boards and I can't even fill my hold with the missions listed even if I were to accept missions to several systems. Why?

The average haulage mission to a large pad is paying 1.3 million max while some are less than a million. On a rare occasion I'll find one close to 1.8 million. I can find maybe 4 to 5 missions on the whole board, however, most of the time I can only find 2 to 3 mission to haul stuff on the entire board. Why?

But look, there's quite a few missions that state "ship too large". I could easily fill my T9 with them and they pay at least 75% more for the same quantities than do the missions to large pads. Why?

In the mix of missions that say my ship is too large there is often several for 2 to 3.5 million credits. No single large pad mission approaches that kind of a payout. Why?

There are now less wing missions... Good or bad, I don't know, but these pay around a million to a million and a half max for each trip that it would take me to finish the mission. The typical 120 or 180 ton haulage missions are paying about the same price to haul about 1/3 of the tonnage. Why?

It is very hard to make a decent paying trip back now as there are less haulage missions of any type on the board. Why?

The source and return missions are even worse paying and I'm lucky to find something I can transport to the location to make it decently profitable. Source and Return missions dominate the boards and while wing missions pay more, they still pay less per ton than to straight haulage missions. Why?

What good is it to fly to the only 3 large pads within 25 light years looking for 1600 insulating membranes and the first 2 ports had 1 each and the other had less than 50?

I can't see quantities listed along the price. Why?

If I do find a decent paying source and return mission, I can't find the cargo in any quantity in the area unless it is at a medium/small pad facility. Why?

Yet, using EDDB, I can see that several small and medium pad facilities have literally THOUSANDS of them in stock. Why?

If I take a high paying, long range mission (180,000+ls) mission, the Source and Return missions pay the same money as they do anywhere else... Why?

Data missions are now hard to come by. Why?

I look at my Oculus and think about logging into the game and I ask why?

Why do I own a T9 or any other large pad ship?

I think this is the part where I'm supposed to make the following glib observations:-

Check the state and type of economy in the system you're in.
Being allied with a faction yields better-paid missions.
If you don't see any profitable missions in your current system, go elsewhere.

These and other obvious suggestions for things which you already knew should be enough to divert attention away from the fact that something is obviously screwed-up in the mission-generator right now.

Gotta be blunt here, perhaps try moving locations?

There are high paying locations out there, also a station in the Irandan system got attacked today, you can make 4millilion credits a run shipping meds there in a T9
system

Yep. All rng.

I wish it was the simple, there is actually method to the madness that goes on inside the various locations and how the missions spawn, I have been following all the various trails for years. Have 4 main locations for good missions. The I-Bootis Cluster, Pleiades, Q1 Eridani Surrounding systems, and Shinrata for occasional high capacity mission pre 3.0 - That's for freight, don't pay attention to other mission types.

It's all about what stations in those areas are exporting.

God forbid one actually has to do a bit of quick research to find profitable routes...

I was sitting in a station in my Type-9 a couple of nights ago looking for a mission. Only ones on offer for the faction I want to support (that I could take) were assassination missions. So I took one.

When my target finally showed up, it was a fun fight. My trade-fitted Type-9 vs pirate lord in a FAS. Well, two fights really, as he jumped away at 30% hull and turned up again in SC fully healed, but I eventually got him.

But yeah, large ship missions are pretty scarce.

I gotta be blunt here too... Why do the system states disproportionately affect large pad missions while medium pad missions are unaffected by it.

I'm not looking to make 20 million a run. I just want mission payout to be the same per ton across all pads.

I just want a reasonable chance of filling my hold up with decent paying missions.

Why does a station with a population of less than 20,000 need as much or more than a station with 20 million? And why does it pay more?

Why do so many missions that are generated go to a station of the same type (industrial to an industrial as an example) so that even if you wanted to fill my hold i couldn't possibly make any credits at all.

WHY CAN I FIND BETTER PAYING MISSIONS CONSISTENTLY WITH MY PYTHON AND NOT MY LARGE PAD SHIP?

Where exactly are you hunting for missions? Because we must be playing completely different games. Give me a name of a few stations, I want to check them out.

Missions aren't the best use of a Type-9. I only use mine for trading CGs and it's a good fit for that. You can also use it for bulk trading.

If you prefer doing trade missions, try a Python or some other medium-sized ship. I often use my AspX for these, since a lot of the missions are for smaller amounts of cargo and my AspX can do a lot of them in 1 or 2 jumps.

I use my T9 for mining. Once set up nicely, I have enough to stay out in the rings and really rake it in. Plus I have the ability to add in an SLF for extra protection.

I would LOVE for there to be a plethora of Bulk Cargo Large Pad Missions, but right now Wing Missions are the closest thing - and I refuse to do them anymore dur to the whole Magic Money Multiplier (aka Silent Screw Job) in the way payment it implemented.

Just my 2 cents...

I have to agree with those who are saying it is way too hard to find good missions for the large trading ships. Just because it is possible if you know how to chase after rare conditions in the bubble doesn’t mean this is working the way it should. If you have limited time to play and you just want to login in your hard earned Cutter or T-9 and earn some decent coin doing haulage it shouldn’t be as hard as it is.

It is by fifty seven orders of magnitude my biggest frustration with the game.

Yeah you can do mining, CG’s, other things and there is a lot of fun in Elite, but there should be better and more plentiful haulage for space truckers who like the big ships.

Tun - i can usually get several decent paying, long range missions to Aktzin or Moros and a couple of missions to LHS 535 and Alrai. After I leave Tun I can only get a couple of missions at other stations. Funny thing is you can get missions from Tun to quite a few local system, nut very rarely back to Tun and almost always they are a single data mission, very rarely haulage missions.

Try to get allied with all the factions at Sol lots of Fed rank good payout and everything is usually with in one jump. Its not going make you rich over night but its a solid place to make creds and Fed rank.

I'm not looking to get rich overnight. But I can't even find with any regularity 3-4 missions, 90-180 tons for 1 to 1.5 million credits each. I hit Tun, I find decent paying long range missions, then nothing.

Even though it was late, I took the time to fly to Atkins, Gendenwiith and Auradjan. Gendenwitha had 3 standard hauling missions and the other 2 had 1 a piece. Wow, I'm impressed. Wasn't even that many source and return missions even though the 2 of the systems were in Boom.

Is it any wonder that people board hop?

You sound like you don't want to be helped. Someone tells you the benefits of sol for getting good, high paying missions, which seems to be your complaint, and your response is 'i don't want to get rich quick'? I'll put it down to your temporary state of annoyed-ness and point out again, that Sol is a great system for missions. The factions are all fed, huge variety, and when you get allied, pretty good payments too, but the big thing is the variety, you'll usually have over 100 missions to choose from, and lots of high value haulage too. Good luck!

Don't do regular missions. Just do trading, in quantity. That's what a T9 was made for. Or do trading CGs.

Use EDDB to find good trading routes: https://eddb.io/ Select "MultiHop Route" or "Loop Route" and rake in the credits.
