Why do we have a Solo-only CG?

For those unaware, the latest meta alloy farming CG can either be done by finding random barnacles in Open (~2 meta alloys every few hours) or by relogging to regrow permanent barnacles in Solo (~60-120 meta alloys per hour).

Effectively, we have a CG that can only be completed in Solo by using a borderline exploit. How does this make sense for a supposed multiplayer endeavour?

CGs have always favoured solo.
Maybe not to the extent that this one does, but switching to 'easy mode' (aka solo / private) is something a lot of CG participants do.

Just one point. Logging into different game modes (Open, Solo, Group) is not an exploit. It was designed that way from day one and is a legal method of game play.

Combat logging to avoid combat in progress IS an exploit and frowned upon.

Logging into different modes to play in those modes is not an exploit.

Logging on and off only to reroll the galaxy is an exploit.

You say right in your OP, that the activity can be done in open. Your point that it is an Solo only CG dies on your own comment.

Hmm, sit on planet -> shoot spikes -> scoop meta alloys -> transfer cargo to ship -> repeat, hour after hour? Yes, that sounds like grand fun, not to mention the pure profit of the monetary reward that will no doubt be involved, I'm totally going to be Commander #1 and earn maybe as much as A MILLION CREDITS! on this CG, especially since no one else can use Solo mode!

Wait, when did everyone else get their own Solo mode too, should they choose to use it? Man, I haven't got the enormous advantage this thread led me to believe! Damn you FDDDDDDD! :raeg!:

Well according to the thread title, it's Solo mode only and that means meeeeeee! Except everyone else gets to use Solo too apparently and I'm not special any more.
