I'm a cowardly dangerphobic.
Loss? Hmm. Now we have 300 mln / hour income, and one loss of cutter is 40 mln. Since 2 years of playing in Open i have only 200 mln in rebuys. I am doing PvP and these 200 mln rebuys are caused by space station in most.
Ladout is a choice of player. Consequence of dumb build is a rebuy screen.
Simple thing - if you are in trading build, exploring build or other build than strict combat then simply do not engage in combat, because it obvious your ladout is weaker and there is no even single chance to win. Simply high wake and problem solved.
Nobody will give you that, becuse this is on Your side to create a situation when You will have an advantage, not Your enemy.
As i wrote above, if you want to have equal fight then fly in better ladout than your enemy. Its not easy to choose ladout and learn how to play it, so if you want be good, then you need to simply gitgud(or die tryin')
If you are outnumbered then you need to create a situation when you will NOT be outnumbered. Just simply run and call for friends.
In all cases you can create equal situation to Your enemy, but You need to do it, nobody else.
Everyone have same toys. Enemy have a friends, crafted ships, better ships, you also can. If don't, you always can simply not engage in combat and high-wake, so even in Open play, if you do not want direct pvp, then you not need to pvp. high wake is easy and simple way to say 'thanx mate, i am not interested in fight, bye'.
It goes a little something like this:I don't understand why people think that an aversion to PVP is cowardly or that I'm afraid of other players.
2) Way too unbalanced ships - trade/combat with and without eng mods.
Its up to you how is your income. Game offers a way to earn 300/hour. If you are earning less then its your choice and consequences. You might have that. My average hourly income is less than 1 million most of the time. I'm playing this game for fun, not to grind PvE stuff in order to support a PvP lifestyle. Also, keep in mind, we all have different skill levels. If I was engaging in PvP, i'd probably be dying a lot. Which would push me to grinding credits and ugh... that's not really interesting.
Then simply run. Another consequence of Your choice. If you are not skilled in PvP and refusing GitGud, then GitFast. If you refusing both, then avoid common known PvP location. If you refusing all, then i cant help, because you refusing everything what can prevent you from facing a rebuy screen.Sure, but there again, if not configured for combat, why risk PvP anyway? This is part of the problem with the lack of balance in ships. If you are not skilled at PvP and not in a PvP capable ship, then your only option is to run. If your only option is to run (or comply in the case of pirates) then why even bother? At best you are slowed down, at worst you face the rebuy screen. "Interactions" be damned, its a lose/lose situation.
Sure, which is why I think ED will remain a bad game for PvP.
Not everyone has friends to call on, and no guaratee those friends will be online at the same time as me, and even if so, they will be in the same area as me and able to respond.
Yes, you can, if you have the friends, if you and your friends are of roughly the same skill level as the opponents, if you are really wanting to do PvP (and not for example trade or whatever), if you are willing to grind and grind and grind to get those ultimate PvP ships (because you know the others have done it - its an arms race)....
Meh. I'm too old and too lazy to even bother with that.
What is the point of PvP? To win right? To show you are better? Fine. You're better than me. If i flew in open, would that stop you attacking me though for whatever reason? Nope. I can't just say that and a PvPer will say "fair play mate, thanks, go on your way". Nope, i'd be toast before i could even high wake.
Zero point of me playing in Open.
Ships are fine. Build is up to you. You can fly smart T9 who will survive encounter and jump or greedy with paper shield. Same and exploratinon. Paper one shoot one kill, or smarter one with a bit better shields.
If you are greedy, or paper, then you need a think where you flying and predict what can happen.
As i wrote, its up to You. Balance is fine.
made more so by the unimaginative daily goings-on of the griefer/ganker squads and starport camping.
