Modes Why do you want me in Open?

LOL yes, let's simply imply that someone else is being "irrational" with their responses because we clearly have nothing better to respond with, shall we?

No, I parsed out one of your fallacious posts above.
I could do it to almost everything you post, but you'd eventually cry and I'd get an infraction or banned.

It's hilarious how into forum PVP all you anti-Elite-PVP whiners are!

It's obvious you want to shoot everyone, just admit it.
You'll be better off.
Only then you can start down the road of self improvement.

As an aside, one can see this same attitude all the time in neckbearded Aikido folks, and other non-combative "martial" artists.
The parallel is fascinating.

CGs are just the natural place for PvPers to meet and there can't always be fights, gotta shoot something in the meantime. As far as organizing I've literally fought hundreds of organized fights, it's fun but ultimately pointless within the context of the game. Also you should really check out r/iamverysmart I think you'll fit right in.

However, it is the preponderance of PKers at CGs that is one of the main things that discourages people from Open Play, to say that you have to go to CGs to find fights because people are in PG or solo is absurd, totally the wrong-way-around.

BTW I don't "do" Reddit, I would need a lobotomy before I would consider it so the snide remark is wasted.

I already answered from my own perspective.

Why won't you concede the point?
Why do you think it's OK to pigeonhole people?

There is no point to concede, I don't see any "answer" just you saying I was positing an opinion. Which point I have gladly admitted, after all the forum is all about posting opinions. You basically say it is only an opinion and I say OK if the opinion is wrong, do prey tell what it is that makes PvP players want more people in Open Play if it is not to increase their own fun.

Not a pigeon-hole, just a habitation where PvPers, Pirates and PKers all inhabit for their own particular version of "fun". NB I am not saying all PvPers are PKers but obviously all PKers are PvPers (gosh - horrible acronyms, sorry).

I don't really care if I discourage people from open play. If my actions are enough to make them stay in solo then I don't want to play with those type of people anyway. I never said I have trouble finding people because people are in PG or solo so I don't know where you got that idea. I don't care about in players in PG or solo, they can do whatever and are completely irrelevant to me. PvPers don't normally go to CGs to fight the random people in garbage ships that show up anyway, they go to fight other PvPers.
Also your reaction to my reddit comment told me all I need to know, thanks.

This is just an off the cuff idea, but. what if ..........there was a new aspect added to open

What if...... traders / miners and returning explorers could HIRE a few pvper`s to * protect * them during their runs, the hiring costs wouldn`t have to be high as most pvper`s probably have a fair few credits, and they wouldn`t really be doing it to make credits, but they might do it for the possibility of pvp action should the trader etc get jumped.......... such a system might also work against the gankers and gweefers, when they are suddenly confronted with pvper`s who are combat capable instead of sitting duck targets

It MIGHT tempt a few players into open , as there are likely some Cmdr`s who would play open so they could meet new people but dont want to be destroyed every time they run a mission

Just a thought

As has been pointed out around 50 times now, solo players do not undermine powerplay

Now we do have an issue with reading comprehension around here ;)

But the gameplay is hardly changing so it's still boring and still nobody will play it and it'll have the impact of wasting dev time that could go someplace else.

Um...oh yes they do. Some powers actively encourage their pledges to do so explicitly in solo or PG. Because it's safer.

Cheating is a valid choice in the face of legitimate ingame actions you don't like, and takes less time than other more non-cheaty ways like piloting, planning and mode selection.

That would be excellent. Already happens to some extent among powerplay factions that are committed to open play. For example recently my group helped some Feds win an expansion and were paid by joining wing missions that the Feds did for us and collecting the rewards. It was a great bit of emergent content.

So you're proving you don't understand the law of averages and you're saying Braben is wrong too.
No. I'm proving that Undermining, along with Preparation and Fortification, is one of the main "verbs" in PP mechanics; and people can do it in Solo; because right now people can do EVERYTHING in solo. For some bizarre reason, you keep insisting that solo players don't Undermine, or can't Undermine, or SOMETHING. Until you are ready to admit that Undermining is in fact a thing that Solo players do, I'm done with you.

From the thread I linked:
"Undermining requires a CMDR to visit an enemy Control system, interdict Powerplay specific faction ships, blow them up, then return your merits to any Winters Control system."

Yes you can do this in Solo. Yes solo players do this.

Jex doesnt know what undermining is in powerplay, he's referring to the concept of undermining the integrity of the powerplay system.

I hope.

DeVo are/were right. "Are we not men?"
You're speaking my dialect. [up]

The video Jocko Homo, was shot at a building in downtown Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. I grew up in CFO. What you probably won't find on google: The building is still there, owned by a member of the Mothersbaugh family, and it's located on Front Street about half a block South of Portage Trail. :D

Rooks o7

Not sure if they are still active, but Iridium Wing was all about Explorer escort. My own faction makes it a point to rally up when a big data dump is coming in as well.

During our last player war one explorer jumped in to three full escort wings. [haha]

Where would your proposal leave those of my noble profession?

(Which is the graceful art of space-lane robbery, for the unacquainted)

PvP is not meaningful or valid gameplay if it’s one sided, I don’t care if you think it’s “sanctioned by FDev” or whatever, if you’re gameplay hinges on stealing stuff from other players that aren’t interested in or running a ship appropriate for Combative PvP then your gameplay, to be frank, sucks as far as I’m concerned.

In games with different players or groups that aren't working towards the same goal - sometimes there is just flat out someone who loses. It's ok.

It's ok to lose. Not only lose, but get utterly and totally stomped on.

Great reason to play in Open - reveal your character and then build on it.
