Why hasn't frontier ever responded to killing our SLF NPC's?

Hello Commanders!

I'm fairly sure that I've mentioned this topic on more than one occasion. Oh well, once more, with feeling!

We have some ideas for preventing fighter crew death whilst retaining some form of jeopardy, but we haven't got round to implementing them.

Clearly we don't want a situation where crew can always be saved, this would mean that everyone would only ever hire one or two fighter crew. However, we accept that the current situation is too harsh in terms of investment versus risk. Look for more information in a future update.

Thanks for the answer Sandro. Now we know where we stay and this is fine :) i'm looking forward for some intresting improvements

Personally ... i want these things gone, give me one of these AI that theyre going to be releasing, yes, they killed the guardians, yes theyre going to kill us all too, but i would rather have something that i can rely on rather than some guy who eats all your food and runs away with your ships because theyre within a few meters of an asteroid, oh and then cant land in the back of your type10 for reasons unknown

i forgot to point out in my previous posts - i am absoluetly against the requirement to pick up my crew after ship destruction.
that guy is just a telepresence in my ship anyway, so no need for an escape pod in the first place.
Err.. no, s/he's not. Crew are actually IN your ship, that's why they "die". They telepresence into the fighters FROM your ship. Multi-crew is a different story, those guys/gals are telepresence'd into your ship.
Just ignore the fact that one version of telepresence works over infinite distance (multi-crew) and the other has a 30km max range (fighters).

there are currently MORE indicators that the hired crew is NOT on your ship then for it.
or different phrased - the fact that the crew is lost when your ship explodes while they are active is the ONLY incosistency in the whole NPC crew system.

aka: they are just telepresence in your ship, and their death is an error in the surrogate system ;)

My crew got fired a couple days ago because I was at the Guardian site and I summoned my ship and no one could figure out how to land it. I payed them well considering they only had to do actual work maybe 10 minutes a week. Those... 3rd milliennials are so lazy!

Unless I missed something, it makes absolutely no sense that they die.
If they are operating the SLF from the ship by telepresence then they die. Every one else (passengers etc) escapes.
If I am operating the SLF, then the npc crew member dies and I and everyone else (should there be others) survive.

Sandro's 'explanation' sounds like ...... to me.

Whatever the lore explanation, the mechanic of NPC crew taking so much money and then being killed is not fun. So that is reason enough to change it.

I haven't seen NPC ranked higher than expert. Maybe if we could hire crew members of the same rank that we lost then it would be ok.
