Why is ship interiors something that is not planned to be included if at least half the player base wants it?

I understand there are technical difficulties around this. People are falling through the concourse/lobby already. Imagine inside a ship... It would be nice to move around while docked/landed, though. Something like when the Falcon landed for repairs in "The Empire Strikes Back". We could walk around and do repairs on our ships while landed. That would be enough to make me happy.
ship repairing would be nice, imagine on a planet surface resuplying fuel lol....but maybe too far away from actual gameplay

Imagine going to your armory on board to pick up your load out from a rack..you can either do it quickly in the ship menu or walk in and look at them all mounted and lookin cool..maybe a bench where you inspect and clean them in an animation every now and again for a small stat boost that degrades over time
Just sitting on the ground at the light of a campfire at the dark side of a planet? supossing there's enough oxygen....
wait we dont need ship interiors for that :ROFLMAO:

Even better, if you have multicrew have this as a task that your crew can do while you fly the ship.. same thing with stuff like data transfer or bio samples..have a communications console for sending in the survey data to universal cartographics.. have a chem bench for analysing samples..make them into mini games that can be performed rather than just sitting in a seat doing nothing

I'd still keep them as having the ability to move around in supercruise but not in normal flight where combat happens..as soon as an interdiction is detected a short animation plays of them running to their nearest seat or even a fade to black with them back in their seat before fights start.

Why would players want to pay $40 for an expansion that tanks their framerate in space so that they can do something in first person view when they can already do the exact same things instantly from a menu?

Ship interiors would be eye candy and add nothing to the game.
Interiors in solo would be useless, pretty much the same in pg.
A lot of work just for a few players in open to hope for some kind of interaction.

Oh no..I expect any ship interiors to be free or part of a new DLC..you're the one claiming a figure to put on it.. not getting it for a few years anyway, game is currently borked

It’s a lot of work. Unless you expect that Fdev employees do the work out of charity, it’s going to cost about as much as any other DLC.

If you expect them to be free, that’s not exactly a sign that interiors are a feature that players put much value on, is it?

I have a feeling that those who could smoothly implement such a thing are no longer with the company. If Glassdoor is to be believed, the Cobra engine is not a very easy or intuitive engine to work with, so a lot of figuring out how to implement stuff probably boils down to figuring out what the last guy did. After figuring that out, you have to figure out how to make what he did do what you want to do without breaking everything.

This is a big problem with super long-term projects like this. If you have high turnover, it makes even simple features monumentally more difficult to implement if the dude who built the framework is gone and left bad notes.

Most likely a big contributing factor, as well as also behind a lot of Odyssey issues. Team communication etc.

Nobody would pay $40 for a concourse-only expansion either. If the engine didn’t support them, exceedingly unlikely they would have been in Odyssey,
Yes they would majority of customers are sheep. They would happily pay and proceed to complain like all the rest of us/you do/did/will

You really believe that they would launch an expansion with just concourses? (In case you were not paying attention, Odyssey had other features that were the main selling point for most of us.)
