Why is ship interiors something that is not planned to be included if at least half the player base wants it?

Well, it's quite disappointing to see everyone really wants Elite to turn into an Arcade Shooter. But I do have to admit I respect everyone's views. I only say disappointing mainly due to I've been playing from day one to see it become this. But this is what we have. Frontier Development will fix the bugs and make this title a good and stable title soon. I've supported Frontier for a long time and over that time they always finish what they say so they're Developers do a good job.
I figured that the flight simulator side of Elite Dangerous would eventually die but they will get Odyssey up and running just as good as Horizons.
Frontier is known for good titles. Odyssey was a bit rough, so to speak LMAO, but frames are stable now.

See ya in the bases Commanders or wait I think it might be sec ops now. lol Either way on the field of battle....o7

Oh and those players that think SC will compete with ED....lol don't worry, that will never happen, no opinions there, just all facts......LOL :)

Ship interiors

1/2 the player base want them.... mainly I suspect so they can spend £x.xx on customising their ship interior with various trinkets
1/2 the player base dont want them because it takes forever walking from the ship to the concourse elevator and then add in walking from the embarkation point to the cockpit.. (or fighter bay/SRV bay)

In any case, name a decent gameplay idea that involves ship interiors(besides hijacking random ships) thats worth the hassle of designing/implementing/putting up with forum abuse because they did it wrong

Bill

<<rather enjoying the on foot gameplay in additional to the usual in ship malarky

But your friend could be in your ship fixing things while you're playing? (Imagine being that friend tho. "Er, I'll just sit here off to the side and wait on the off chance you might need me.")

Imagine the thrill of running down the corridor of your ship, Han Solo-like yelling at other players to start the engines while skimmers and NPCs are blasting away at the shi... oh it blew up.

Or in midst of an exploration trip, you have to suit up and climb about on the hull a few hundred KM from a neutron star to fix the damage you just took?

(Look, those are tongue in cheek, yeah, and I can completely understand why some people would like them, but the constant demand that most people or even half those people would rather those options instead of the more direct route baffles me. And we ALL know that if the AMFU is replaced by having to EVA on the outside of your ship, the people who asked for that would be far outweighed by people complaining that Frontier just added to the grind by making things more complicated)

It's planned from the start as per Braben own words. But maybe they're finding it hard to implement than they thought. One thing is wanting to do another is accomplishing it. As said before, they should start small (just enable the ship cockpits) and then later on the rest of the interiors bit by bit.

I'd be quite happy being able to walk around the cockpit, maybe have a "commander's room" that's universal to all ships, and then have an "up the steps to the ship from the surface, black fade, you're now in your cockpit" thing similar to the SRV.

(I do like the idea of EVAs to derelict megaships or the like down the road tho)

Why is this even a question? Who wouldn't want to experience entering and walking about their ships?:

That doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to use the teleport anyway.
I don't think most people would want even that much ship interior fidelity. They'd be happy with being able to walk out from the cockpit to the exit. I especially like that Sidewinder concept. It's small and compact and rather well thought out.

Unless Frontier would have interiors as static environments, meaning no moving around or walking when the ship is undocked, the physics and collision would just add a whole other layer of difficulty
