Why is the broken BGS being ignored?

Seriously though. We're all hoping the bgs reverts back to functional prior to PP2.0.
But I have to ask why hasn't that happened?
It's a huge part of elite.
I partake, 1000s of cmdrs do. Huge groups dominate it. Solo cmdrs and small groups participate. So it's not a fringe activity.
And having not heard a word from the gods! Makes me think sommat is coming.

Personally, I think they just have too much on their plate and not enough manpower to handle everything. This is not any "insider knowledge" BTW (I wish I had it lol), just my speculation. They have broken parts of PP2 to still work on, full release of Trailblazers with all of the bugfixing and (hopefully) improvements, the backend is very clearly not coping with the load, which causes the horrible stuttering and on top of that the BGS is completely dysfunctional.

They have introduced A LOT of bugfixes with the last patch, so it's not like they're not fixing the game - clearly they are working hard on that, we get both client and server side fixes. This is really appreciated. So if I were to bet, I would say it's just too much to handle with the limited team they have, so they need to "prioritise". Bear in mind they are also working on the roadmap stuff, so new features and another old feature overhaul AND have couple of other existing games and new game(s?) they are working on and I'm pretty sure the teams are intermixed here and there too.

It's frustrating for sure, as everyone wants their thing to be fix (not to mention the general bugs, old and new). Guess all we can do is wait and see what happens. Personally it feels like the game is simultaneously in the best and almost-worst state it's ever been :D (I say almost-worst, as nothing will beat the Odyssey release disaster)

The lack of communication is disappointing if I'm honest.

Yeah, I don't think there's a reasonable argument that doesn't acknowledge the current fixes that have been made and that the main problem with them telling us they're working on more is never going to be more than a vague "We're in the process of fixing it".

It does however have that feeling of over facing themselves again. PP v2 was not a small update and when do you ever see something like that work perfectly on day one? There's always a 2.1 patch somewhere. Then there's trailblazers which has surprised me with how much this has impacted things- although more systems meaning greater system maintenance should have been predictable. Maybe FDev hadn't expected us to jump into this so heavily.

Still I have my little trial system I'm working on with a Coriolis in place (that bit worked fine). Whether I should be building something to try something out, leaving it because it might not work or won't work because stuff hasn't been but in place or disabled is leaving me a bit confused with this whole beta process.

We've mostly been spared from frozen BGS. Even when our expansion state froze after the PP 2.0 patch, we didn't mind because we had more than enough systems already. However now my colonized system has been stuck on pending election for 5 days now. It's annoying because I don't want to make futher constructions or chain more colonies from there before our faction controls that enclave. Maybe I should build a settlement so see if that unfreezes it.

There's 1000s of new and returned cmdrs playing.
Arx purchasing must be skyrocketing!
The last 2 years have seen elite go from maintenance mode to what it is now. A burgeoning cash cow filled with new complex content that's yet to be fully understood.
I excuse the bugs really l do. I like 1000s of other cmdrs just love zipping about in glorious VR.
And I've said it many times but it's true.
No other game on this earth does to VR what elite does... none.
I'm lucky, I've built a rig around VR. And I'm hooked ill admit it.
Yeah I've moaned about the over emphasis on hauling. The crap backend we all know about, the bugs and suspensions like rares with PP2.0 is frustrating.
Elites definitely unique.
I truly believe this game has a future like no other. With a community that's both ironclad & uniquely loyal.
So once again fdev, bring it on!

What? I have a fully physicalized VR cockpit in Vtol VR that supports hand tracking now with a few little mods. I literally flip switches with my actual fingers. Elite just has you glued to a seat with HMD tracking while you struggle to fumble with your keyboard and mouse if you didn't spend more than the most common market headsets now cost on a Hotas.

Vr Chat has better VR space experiences than Elite currently offers now in terms of controls at this point. Because you can just use full body and finger tracking.
