Why is the Early Bird Pass so expensive?

I had been waiting for RCT World for a long time but then I heard about this and I wasn't sure which one to get. Then I saw you could pay and get into the alpha this month. So I figured okay I will buy the game. Didn't know it was gonna be $75, damn. I don't think I can afford that.

I think the logic behind this is: Let the core fans pay more, let the casuals pay less.
Makes sense if you ask me. This game has much of its depth only for the core people
that require it to have stuff like accurate supports for rollercoasters and other in-depth
elements of realism. This is stuff the casual theme park player won't ever care about.
So it seems to be a decision along the lines of "We built that extra stuff only for you,
so you gotta pay for it, too." Fine with me.

For the casual player id just go with the 30$ one, unless you really cant wait to play it. 75$ isnt too bad when you consider 150$ or more for some games that come with an artbook, steel case and 2 free dlcs worth 5$ each.

I think they want to keep it to the core fans. The problem with the RCTW beta was lots of non hardcore fans played it and slated it for missing features (on top of a long list of everything else that was wrong). I imagine frontier will want to avoid negative feedback to do with lack of features as casual gamers don't really understand what alphas are where as hardcore fans know features that are missing will be added.

You're gonna be getting 6-8+ months of time to play the game before it's officially released. I think it's worth it.

Something to remember is that the alpha will be missing a lot of stuff. Like an incredible amount will not be present compared to the final game. RTCW is just a bad game and in my opinion is beyond repair. If I were you I would just pre-order the game and wait until September-November to play it.

you pay 75$ for finding bugs!
I found one! [big grin][big grin]

Completly agree! [up]

If it was too cheap the Dev team may not get the feedback they require. By putting the price up a bit it means they can ensure the people buying it will be dedicated to helping improve the game. As another example of this was Planetary Annihilation's alpha that was £65.

£50 for the full game + permanent early access isn't too bad. If they were charging £30-£40 to pre-order the game on its own to put into context it wouldn't seem as much.

I guess I get what you guys are saying, only for the hardcore fans, and I'd like to do it, I just think that is a little much. That being said, I may or may not buy it. I do want to be part of this.

I personally agree with that it is too expensive for any game, especially early access.

But yeah, the reason its more expensive is because you get to play it (a part of the game, not the final game!) 9 months before the actual game release. And some people are willing to pay that.

Luckely they kept the final game the price of other games. But at the moment I dont know if I got enough money for the early bird either, so I probably buy the full game at release or buy the early bird later if its still possible.

So far what they've shown looks very promising and I haven't been hyped for a game like this in a long time, but for over 70 bucks there is little margin for error and disappointment to be quite honest [tongue]

We will know more in 12 days if it's worth the money I guess so best thing is wait [woah]

I also think the price is sort of to get rid of those overly hyped kids who expects a fully fledged game at these early stages. The die hard fans will purchase and understand the process, while most people who just stumble over the title, willing to pay less than the price of a full game "because it's early access and lacks features" would most likely not write anything good about it.

Just speculation of course. Regardless if that's even remotely true, I don't mind the price tag. I want to be part of the process.

Expensive? You played never a alpha version? My most priciest early acces was €150,- for ArcheAge. There is also a founders pack for BDO for 150,- It's not that it's so much more expensive then normally. Alpha's are expensive because you support the dev/Game. And kids that have no money or don't want to spent just are not worthy to get alpha. You need to give feedback and be helpfull towards the dev because alpha is all about that. Make the game better/Finding bugs. It's just that people who mostly pay helping the game with it! And not just play and not making the game better or giving feedback. (I want to say not everyone is the same I know that. And some will play/give feedback when Beta is there or Initially release.)
